There is this famous story about Lee Scratch Perry and Black Ark Studios: he used to blow all the smoke of a huge spliff on the recording process of master tapes made on that house. On some records he used to dig and piss on the tape to give "texture".

People don't know about the voodoos and mojo that happened at that time. Smoking was the standard. Ask Black Sabbath about what they used to do on studios lol.

Have you not ever seen the inside of a bong or a pipe after two weeks? Never hotboxed your car and realized you had to get Goo Gone out to clean the film off the windows so you can see? You think somehow your music equipment is safe from the same treatment?

You either haven't been smoking long at all or you've smoked yourself braindead heh.

It all depends on what you mean by "damage". Damage as in ruin the monitors to the point that they malfunction and stop working, pmost likely not. Damage as in build up residue on the diaphrams which adds weight which in turn greatly affects sounds put out, yes that could easily haoppen... but again it also depends on other things like what exactly you're smoking and how you're smoking it. Buds out of pipes and bongs would probably be safest. If you're smoking blunt wraps then you start having the smoke and residue from the paper which can eventualy cake on residue after awhile in compact areas. It also depends on the bud as well. I dont know exactly what you're smoking on but hopefully its good and safe.

    As far as the comment,

    "..the heat reduces the humidity.."
Please, please do not listen to this advice or whatever it was intended to be. This is not true at all in fact it is the opposite. You can certainly create humidity and moisture by smoking indoors in an area not designed to contain and filter smoke and depending on the temperture it can have either a very small effect or an exponentially increased effect.

You're safest bet would just be to go outside and smoke. How much trouble can that really be when you think about iot? And is it worth even the maybe of "damaging" your equipment which i assume you worked hard for and invested alot of money in, probably not worth it. Smoke outside, or at least in another room if you happen to be way up north or in a very cold area like Barrow, Alaska or Amundsen-Scott Station, South Pole, Antarctica, and don't want to go out because of the cold or something idk... but thats my opinion.

I never smoked, I have severe asthma, but every Recording studio where I did sessions it was absolutely prohibited, they had air filtered break rooms you were obliged to use, if you weren't happy with the the no smoking rules in studios a sign stated to go elsewhere. Every studio I worked in had no smoking policies, Rules are there protect the expensive equipment and employees from damage.

I prefer stimulants in the studio, makes me infinitely more productive than weed and doesn't damage the equipment (unless you're doing rails on your synths or mixer).

In many places, you can't even smoke a cigarette, inside any business; even in bars and clubs. Very few places can get a license and I know it is expensive to do so, but I guess there are other criteria too. Almost no places do it. News articles at the time of the change had a lot of interviewed bar/club owners complaining about the negative impact on their businesses. After cannabis legalization, anyone needing to be discrete just gets those 100% vapor pens.
