I am curious how he was about to get the sampled vocal stutter effect so smooth. I've cut the "want" sample from the orginal song acapella into more of just a "wah" and repeated it with heavy verb and fading in each region to help with clicking but its not even close. Do i need to throw it into a sampler and mess with the ADSR or something? Any help is appreciated!

Not sure of original. He possibly looped it so it has a long vowel wAAAaaaaaaa sound, just cut on zero cross points and loop, so the word itself sounds really long, then just used a gate. Grossbeat etc. Or maybe original words are already long then just use a gate.

you can also use fades in ableton simpler/sampler, that way you can mask beginning and end of the sample and can let a vocal loop forever.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "cutting on zero cross points"? A gate would work great if I could somehow stretch that vowel for however long, but not sure how to do that. I just stumbled across timeshaper2, i wonder if an effect like this is possibly through a plugin like that?

Can you explain how to loop the vowel? Are you saying get him saying the vowel noise, somehow get it to be one long sustained note, and then throw a stuttering gate on it?

IMO the simplest way is to put it in a sampler, chop every word (so you can better follow the tempo) and make a loop in the two repeating "waant" and "baack" samples (still in the sampler, like kontakt, maschine,..). I can try it for fun and see if it's close enough for you. Shouldn't take long to make a sketch. You want to snap to zero crossings to avoid clicks..

Right on! Thanks! I've been using logic's esx24 as my sampler and starting to get annoyed with it, will need a new one soon.

Ive gotten it closer with better sample chops but even with fades the clicking is terrible...

here you go, i remade it.

    https://sndup.net/26q6

for the vocal, i just had two samplers, one for "i want" and one for "you back"
looped the A of each sample, and then the magic ingredient - tremolo/volume lfo/autopan (which is what i used) or anything that can duck the volume in a sine wave at 1/8 speed. plus reverb of course!

Fuckin rad dude! good work, thanks for your help! I started realizing that it seemed to be just a volume duck as i faded the looped samples on each side more and more. I'm still having trouble getting the A sound cleanly by itself tho!
