The problem with these website builders is that you don't have full control over your website, they let's you pick up some premade templates with minimum customization possibilities and in the end websites made in this way looks more or less all the same.

I use Wix for my own website as a singer/songwriter. It's fine for my needs and is customizable enough for my limited skills in web design.

wix is nice but expensive, payhip is much cheaper(even free lets you link your own domain!)
, less options but a free build in shop!

 

try "bandzoogle.com" instead. it is for musicians.

 

If you have even basic knowledge of programing languages and some xml/html I would steer clear of all those free site builders.

Just use a framework (look up frameworks there are tons of them with pre-built assests) instead and separate content from the view and UI/UX. Not only is it less expensive but it is more importantly safer and as customizable as your skills and time will allow.

If safety is a concern as well and you don't have large heavy website consider a static site maybe even a JS based package. Check out NextJS or GatsbyJS. You can get an AWS/Lightsail instance for about $3.50-$5.00 a month and have a robust build hhtps secured instance that is tolerant distributed and safe as well allowing you to run whatever back-end you would like to should you want to include some dynamic features, a paywall or a payment instance all on the same platform as long as traffic is not in the millions of hits per hour.

There is a bit of learning curve but as with everything else worth doing right, the easiest solution isn't always the best one. You should be familiar with things like ssh, *nix command lines and sftp or sshfs. If you have to work on a Win PC it definitely makes it harder even with the new Powershell and Linux subsystem it is still not up to scratch as working on a *nix native terminal.

 

wix was very good when out for flash animations.
it become a few restrictive with the html5 edition. they also destroyed old pages edition when changing the system.(not really cool)

you can start from an empty template,
also use a iframe on another html page to hide the top banner.

define a css position:

write a html i frame:

adjust the width / height size more if needed, also in the css.

the builder is simple to use and goes fast to edit.
it is still a good tool and 100% free.
i am a free wix user since it is out. they made a nice tool for a classic web edition.

if you don't use linked javascripts and api function it can be enought.

btw payhip also offers a blog function and custom css, burt the only allow toi embedd youtube or soundcloud players.
