This is the most questionable NFO i have ever read (Digital Insanity).

Sony Products Multikeygen v2.4 - more than half of the 50 AV progs listed this keygen as infected, wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole.

Sony Products Multikeygen v2.3 - doesnt have this problem BUT the nfo includes the same funny text (goes with every nfo the team makes?)

this lovely message included in the nfo (not a single comment about this in either post on audioz)



how impressive, it reads like an angst-ridden 12 year old wrote it..

is this a joke? however grammatically incorrect, it seems Diginsan they live up to their promises....

so HOW can a keygen that needs to patch files be run in a sandbox? and wtf is going on here?

It seems DI's fake scare worked on someone...

The goal of this message is to scare off a few people.

-Digital Insanity is a scene group.
The same scene which groups like AiR, RAZOR1911, CORE, BRD and countless other teams are part of.
-One of the implied rules of this scenes is to never include viruses, trojans, worms, or any other code that messes up the user's computer.
-The 0day scene is full of reverse engineers, some being absolutely brilliant. Digital Insanity is a very well known and old group.
Therefore, don't you think some of these reverse engineers look at the code to verify it and learn from it? Hell, I do it.
They wouldn't miss hidden malware even if their eyes were blindfolded and DI isn't stupid enough to ruin their reputation and risk getting banned.

Now, why would they put that message if it wasn't true? Well, look at the history of the scene. Most absolutely despise
the p2p and web forums that spread their releases. Therefore, the message that

actually seems like it was written by sceners who despise those who spread and download their releases outside the scene. Yes, it does sound like a 12-year old, but then again, if you read nfo's from the scene, you'll notice that kind of language is very common, especially in arguments between warez groups.

 

My question is WHY would they despise people who distribute their releases? Isnt that somewhat the point of cracking its code, for others to use it who dont own it?

I mean i dislike p2p (limewire, napster, kazaa, etc weve been there) and torrents, but SOME web forums that build community and could harbor some amazing computer wizards shouldnt be shunned. But im also not part of the scene. I just do my own work on software and release it.

 

Also, because the people who distribute their releases are
1- Not respecting scene rules.
2- Bringing (more) unwanted attention to the scene (authorities, copyright defenders).
If there weren't tons of people downloading pirated content, there wouldn't be millions invested in companies and FBI teams whose sole reason of existence is to track down these people and make them pay for not paying (even though they paid to get the content they distribute to people who don't have to pay to get the content anymore)

 

I understand. I mean i started releasing all the maschine expansions i fixed up after i did it for myself and learned how to do it. Then i decided everyone could benefit. But i have seen the constant requests for software people have and its annoying and even if i got that software and found a means to crack it i wouldnt share it with them just out of their annoyance. Key being all those 1 comment people 'NEXUS 2 PLZ!' or similar. A blight upon a community i agree. But at some point you have to think of someone but yourself, i mean some people might atleast. I did... But they have been in it a lot longer than my trivial endeavors.

 

You can't do it, you need to find workarounds. For instance, you could install software like "Virtual Machine", then install using the patch in the virtual environment, then scan for changes and/or malware. If you don't come up with anything bad in the virtual environment, then you may feel more comfortable installing using the patch on your day-to-day system.

Another example might be using software like Rollback Rx, which makes it so that when you re-boot your machine it reverts back to just what you had before you made any changes in your system. So again, it allows you to examine what the patch does, in what amounts to a second type of 'virtual' environment.

A third possibility is to install using software like "Total Uninstall" or "Soft Organizer", though this third method isn't as precisely reliable depending on how tricky the patching that's being done is, and how determined someone is to screw up your computer with malware by enticing you to use their patch. What these last software programs do is take a 'snapshot' of the windows registry prior to an installation, then a second snapshot after the install. If there's subsequently a problem, then you get a very precise uninstall using either of these programs. The problem with this third possibility is if the patch immediately screws up your machine with a virus, you may find yourself unable to avail yourself of the snapshot that was taken prior to the installation and use of the patch, unless you have very advanced computer skills.

If you're not sure where to find the software I've mentioned above you can locate leads to it on a site like nsane.com. It's not stuff they generally have here on AudioZ. While you're on that site, it would be worthwhile to check out downloads for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware -- if you're not already using it, it's an excellent program that will help keep your OS clean and trouble-free.

For me personally, nowadays unless I feel extremely comfortable with the source of a patch, and I'm getting it from a forum where I've seen several other people use it without ill effects, I will avoid that type of fix. The potential problems just aren't worth it, and too many unknowns, no matter what software it may bring to my computer. So, unless you want to have to do a lot of extra work as I've outlined above , or take on a lot of extra worry, you're probably better off skipping warez software that requires keygen'd patching.

There was a little shit running around putting his picture in their resources and renaming the KeyGen as his own, he got caught out and they even made fun of him, which he deserved.

They even challenged him to reverse it again.

Can't really say i've never downloaded any of his keygen's, i was just curious once why he used another groups icon but since then he said he won't do it again so it's probably best to 'Let sleeping dogs lie'

These scene groups do give me a giggle - they actually believe their own hype.
