well first off ! Who are you asking? I don't think anyone is preternding most musicians play by ear, unless there a Berkley Grad or music Composer
jimi Hendrix, jimi page a lot of great guitarist all played br ear

 

Jimmy Page can read music. He had to read charts during his early session days. Great stuff!

 

Used to be able to sight read. Now it's all done by ear. But I do "know" the notes. Just don't care what they are anymore, as long as it sounds good. .

 

I never saw him admit to it anywhere... if you have a reference please drop a link..

not admitting formal musical knowledge probably added to the mystique, and wouldn't put the trolling past him in the least..
notwithstanding his guitar playing is often far from formal... quirky even

Pffft. You've asked much simpler questions than that before now.

 

Please forgive my question. I really didn't intend to educate anyone. Who am I to do that? I just thought that the reason for all the hollowness of today's music that everyone complains about it perhaps comes back to this simple question that no one asks or dodges it. Also I never said instrument or sight reading.

 

People confuse technical perfection with good music. Music is messy. Rock and roll is about fucking.

I know it my morning counter melody brainstorm (on the train by FL Mobile, the project can be dropped back to FL Studio and able to continue)

just the usefulness of the result is not guaranteed, but fun (only with earbuds shity quality)
