I never knew double fisting was a thing until I read Faggots.
And I'd read pretty well all of John Rechy's books beforehand, too.

There is one book called “So good they can’t ignore you”. I think the author is Cal Newport. I remember nothing from it, but luckily the essence is in the title. Read it a bunch of times (the title I mean) and then do the work (literally do the work, no the book Do the Work by Steven Pressfield from which I don’t remember a a thing but luckily the essence was in the title)

And of course, any of the This Year's Best Science Fiction anthologies put together by Gardner Dozois (RIP) from 1986-2018. It was something I'd always buy for myself from a bookstore on my birthday.

There is something earthy about holding a book in your hand and reading it. Anyone can read a PDF on a phone and an iPad.
The Internet for all its glory, still in some areas points to books to loan or buy because the information is not online on purpose.
Reading a book is always a good choice. You will probably remember everything you read more easily in the process instead of from an ebook on a glowing screen.
