Sometimes it's too much. Links would be better. Or a mixture. There should be an option to enable/disable the media while clicking a button close/adjacent/attached on the left-side to the link.

Option to disable media would be nice. Seeing GIFs of some dude rubbing a hedgehog and penguins being fed is rather obnoxious. It literally takes up 1/10th of the chat visibility and say not that it chops conversations into obnoxious bits. I voted above, but ill state my opinion here. If there isnt a 'disable media button' so some can have it visible and some can have it links, then i vote to disable it all together.

i'm not a massive fan of media, mostly because the boxes are massive and make viewing conversations harder... and almost impossible on smartphones... but i really wouldn't mind if they stay, because they can provide some good bits of entertainment

    Thank you.
I normally use the computer. But, YouTube videos do make it hard to scroll on my phone. That hasn't made me not want to use chat. But, a disable option sounds reasonable, unless a restricted size was somehow easier.

how or who will enforce that policy/courtesy, as we all have seen the commentary and media posted can be quite free wheeling, will a MB quota for media uploads be instituted per member? ( if possible )

I am more for the link/thumbnail option which I have tried to use myself.. as some of the pics I upload from time to time take up a lot of real estate !

I meant, as members, we should take personal responsibility and upload small quantities of media at one time.

Seems to me the optional member disable button would be best of both worlds, everyone can have what they want/need, and could even change at will if desired. Don't know how difficult it is to implement something like that but I'm sure Saint does! What would be the downside to this if any? :dunno: Lacking an optional setting, I'd say disable media & use links.

when you disable flash on audiosex forum then youtube and sc will be shown nor loaded.

imgur is something different, would be nice of gallery picture are not auto embbed, because they are quite big.

i really like to have media stuff shown in the chatbox. its easier to talk that way, when you just want to share some music or quick feedback on a track you created.

its a big bad that flash is so poorly supported on mac, but maybe a better browser with deactiving option for flash helps out there. why leave flash, java script anyway on ON?

yes flash is poorly supported form mac, that's why i don't have it installed... it is so bad that i am true believer that there is NO point in a mac user installing google chrome (mac chrome has flash built in - not sure if this is the same for Win). even without flash on safari, all the media still loads loads for me... i am a big supporter of the optional button idea, as i believe media makes chat harder! but at the same time i don't want media removed!

    :goodpost:Winner!
That would involve that people first check the stuff, pictures etc. download them instead of copy/paste links,

resize them +reduce their size etc. That's how I do it. But people are often too lazy to do that, they also
grab the excuse of "wanting to be spontaneous" in the chat.
Posting Soundcloud links is also known of slowing down browsers.

If you leave media on, please give us at least a possibility to opt out!!!

 Answer = NO & not possible! The problem is based on the users/members who post heavy stuff.

ohhh come on Kook, a comparision for you:
lets say you have an old car, which is rather slow, so you want everybody to follow it, without overtaking so everybody should drive slow, because your car cant drive faster?
why is it not possible for you to upgrade your dino hackintosh? no to mention all your moaning about devs dont support your dino? (its actual crapple makes downward compatibility impossible.

i am on an 5 years old desktop computer and i dont have any problems with media stuff in the SB.
for the internet connection, i see that its hard for those with slow speed.

That is true. But also PROGRESS in itself has its own destructive components!
Killing the old (still stable & good) for the sake of progress at any cost...

My vote goes to third option... Keep it as it is but it can be possible for members to decide whether they want media to be shown in their chat window. I don't know about work behind this option but IMO, it gives freedom to members according to their system performance, internet connection and personal preferences for using chat. Thanks SAiNT for our opinion.

I generally don't use chat but to load the page I have faced problems with 2 MBit/sec internet connection, sometimes. So, I agree with Xyenz comment that as a responsible member, it would be good that we take care of content size.

    Thank you.
