Want to use some of the comprehensive FX plug-ins that REAPER provides, but stuck in another host? Haven't made the switch yet? Fear not -- you can download ReaPlugs, a package of FX that includes many of the plug-ins that come with REAPER, for free!

    really good plugins:wink:

The best thing about this bundle is that it includes ReaJS; a plug-in wrapper for all of the JSFX that are native to Reaper :)

Yep, they're so cool. Unfortunately they have been discontinued since a few years. But still a luxury being totally free.

I find it a bit hard to point out the best in the bunch, but yes JS brings you tons of great plugins which you can just copy from Reaper for a start. There are lots of JS plugins on the Internet for free.

ReaStream can be incredibly useful, too, although if you're using Reaper on all your computers, ReaMote is a better option - lower latency.

A good scenario for using ReaStream [when you're using a different DAW] is using 2nd computer to run some demanding plugin which you want to play with some MIDI controller, put Reaper's audio card output to "null" and very low latency [64-128] then simply record the output on your main computer. For sync, MTC works well for beginners, but it works better to create ["insert" menu] LTC or SMPTE track and send it over to your main rig.

All of ReaPlugins are very useful, but especially when you set aside some time to create your own presets. That goes especially for ReaDelay. ReaComp is incredibly capable, but it's the only compressor that is more useful if you create some starting presets, too.

I wonder why they haven't updated them in such a long time. There's been quite a bit of changes in JS and EQ, and Comp... since 2016.

I'm afraid they're too good to update them totally free.
I mean, even forgetting ReaJs and ReaStream . Take ReaXComp for instance: multi-band compressor with unlimited bands, totally free. Does even exist another free plugin with that feature?

Saike's plug-ins for example, are just superb! Filther, Not-OTT, Squashman, SEQS, bric-a-brac, Nostalgizer etc... all are crazy good! I think that he just updated a bunch of them to work in ReaJS. Most JSFX that uses any of the custom GUI libraries don't seem to work very well in ReaJS, but I think Saike managed to get some of them working. Nitsuj's ReEQ and ReSpectrum are also superb ones that unfortunately don't work in ReaJS.

Edit: I checked which of Saike's plug-ins that work in ReaJS; SatanVerb, Modizer, FMfilter, Yutani Bass Synth, Nostalgizer, Swellotron and all of the "basics".

Yeah, the new ReaLimiter is a great one that isn't in the ReaFX bundle for example. I think Xupito is correct; they are just too good to keep updating for free :bleh:

    SatanVerb sounds interesting. :)

On the serious side thank you for the great info. I've always thought JS is an incredible tool and a lot of incredibly knowledgeable people wrote incredible plugins for it. What people don't get is that it's a plugin to write your own plugins, so you can make all kinds of great plugins if you know how. Very, very powerful. Reminds me of CSynth stuff. Have you ever tried CSynth? It's also a high level language to make your own plugins, but there is no VST plugin, very unfortunately. Well, that I know of. Maybe there is?

Yes, but developers are still making JS plugs, and they are compatible as long as they don't use features that are too new for reaJS.

Well, that shouldn't be a problem. You could just use YSFX instead of ReaJS.

Uo, looks dope but seems very new. Have you tested its stability/bugs?
The developer seems to be quite the audio expert

woohoo! i didn't know that existed, thanks!

I've shared this in the reverb thread but it's just a good example how ReaJS is an extremely capable DSP platform.

    Geraint Luff's work is genius.

Exactly. And the only other competence is Blue Cat's Audio Plug'N Script, commercial.
I think I've seen some attempts by independent open source developers but nothing stable.
A bit of the same with another DSP language, Faust. This one has the big pro that it's for real-time so I think there's better implementations in plugin form.
The best one (Faust VST) by Oli Larkin, who's one of the best contributors to free music/plugin software ever.

Anyone here have the VST (pre-compiled) for YSFX?
The repo is up but links are dead, unfortunately.
    Thx

I attached the official build from 31st of July for Windows x64. (= Most recent version)

    Alternatively: https://github.com/DISTRHO/Ildaeil/
Meta-host that can load VST2, VST3, LV2, CLAP, JSFX, JACK plugins.
(Also comes in an instrument version that can load SFZ, MIDI and audio samples.)
