An this brings to another topic that scarys me about making music on computer:

Total silence is only possible on digital domain. In any other way, there will be a noise floor, reverberations, physical effects, nature (winds, sea, rain). And this is part of the human nature. Now we are dealing with things that are strange to us AKA total silence, and...

Linearity. Any gear will have headroom dictated by input stages of the signal. Except on digital, where you have absolute no response or a hard clip :suicide: A kick drum sounding exaclty the same at -18 and -6 dbFS isnt scarying? It makes me shit on my pants

lol, well that is more like boring, More velocity layers!!! :winker:

About the rest, at the end of the day the world is analog so you're gonna have certain noise even if only for the speakers, D/A converters and stuff. even in the DAWs there's noise floor due to floating point limited accuracy

I also suffer from that. When im not making music, im making other tasks related to music and audio, and the funny part: not really useful task all the time. I created about 20 templates with different signal flows and amps until i got crazy and @Sinus Well helped me to come back to reality.

Sound and music are interchangeable and can overlap.
A more inclusive, all-encompassing term might be audio.

Although sound is quite close for me, I agree. That's how I have my folders organized, something like this:
    - AUDIO
    -- MUSIC
    -- HUMOR (I mean, it's me...)
    -- VARIOUS (podcasts for instance)

Whether burnout or simply peace and quiet, a break is good for anyone. It refreshes everything.

This said, I feel empathy for those on here with tinnitus, because while doctors can ease some of it, so far I am not sure if anyone has cured it.

Metal guitar? No wonder you need a break!

What a meme of a genre ... and that's coming from a guitarist that came through the ranks playing riffs and endless fretboard wankery back when it was where it was at.

    Then I discovered music.
