The sample-transformer for example kick-plugins, and so on ...

I load a kick with 44khz quality into such plugins "Kick 2 vst"
...After saving in the DAW, which is set to 48khz, - what quality has the new formed "48khz" kick now? What serves the plugin from that sample form? I just hope the "design", and not the bit rate or hz rate.


Is it actually by the sole save of the 44-khz samles the sample has genuine 48khz-qualty?
I think you just hear or measure easier the worse quality, right?

 

The 44k sample will be automatically resampled to 48k when you load it. This process is called "up sampling" and is fairly transparent - you don't lose anything and you don't gain anything much either. It will be saved in 48k but the actual sound of it will remain about the same as it was in 44k.

Going the other way from 48k down to only 44.1k is called "downsampling" and it always reduces the quality and might introduce a sort of crunchy effect to the sound like old drum machines & MPC samplers, if you keep reducing lower and lower to 22k and 18k and so on. Going to very low sample rates for that sound is often used on purpose, for a lo-fi feel.

The quality of this downsampling depends a lot on the quality of the algorithm doing it. More sophisticated algorithms work slower but give better quality. In modern hosts the downsampling is generally pretty good so you don't have to worry much about it. Still, it's nice to work with a sound in its original sample rate, especially for crucial samples like your kickdrum. You probably want that as pure and unprocessed as possible, depending on the style of electronic music you're working on.
