I'm talking about all the new releases in the other site, i already have the majority of that plugins, the new changes say ''no ilok required, it loads faster'' but the cracked old versions also doesn't require ilok and loads pretty fast so, do i need to update to them?

 

nobody "needs" to get the new versions. if you are satisfied with what you have, i would say stick with that.

 

the old ones did end up having some incompatibilities over time (having to run ableton as administrator to get them to work, for instance)
I'd get the new ones

 

If you want some new features, fixes, improvements, stability/performance enhancements - get it. I do updates for better work. Who wants broken unstable stuff with unfinished DSP code inside?
But
In future and even now many latest updates lead to Windows7 unsupport, but W10 still has problems. So I don't want W10 now. I still have a powerful machine, software and some good audio hardware in my acoustically treated room) sometimes it may lead to the final update point.

 

I'd say it depends solely on what has been updated. You're using vst2 and they fixed AAX or vst3 well, then it's not necessary. They improved the GUI for 4K monitors and you don't use one, again not necessary. The new update doesn't support Win7 or doesn't include 32bit version anymore, maybe then it's not for you.
Before I update any software, I try to find out what has been updated and why. In another thread members mentioned a worse performance of the most recent UBK-1 version. The code had been reworked from ground because it had issues with Macs, but after the update the Windows performance went down.

 

Old Softube load faster for me.
On all the new Softube installs if I close the plugin window and then click for it to show again it takes a while to show the plugin again around 6 seconds. It's similar to if it was loading the plugin again the first time. In the old Softube installs I close it then click on it again, it shows instantly.

 

Just after my last reply. Softube Tape just asked for Ilok . It does it when I close the window and click on it again every time so maybe that's why they are loading slow.

 

well that's a bummer. hopefully someone has reported it to r2r, be cause they can probably fix it pretty quickly.

If the old ones are working fine then no need.

 

I get a crash with Soothe when doing that 4-5 times. Only instead of i-lok, it warn the plug-in is corrupt and crashes the DAW

I hope this isn't an overall thing with all current R2R releases. They're so new and many, none of us has yet to been able to focus on all of them yet..

old softube plugins dont work in ableton anymore

 

Yeah same things happening to me also, its been heavily reported in the comments on the sister site so I think a fix will land tomorrow based of R2Rs previous track record

 

Some older Softube were slightly different or better. (may be caused by different framework)

 

disable OpenGL Graphics and restart your DAW it should run smoother
