    Hi everybody,

I just upgraded my mac from Catalina to Sequoia, time to clean my plugin selection and improve my workflow. All plugins that i want to use are fine only a few old ones not to important but DMG Equilibrium crash Logic like crazy. The plugin crash Logic 1 time of 3 when i close the window of Equilibirium and also at the loading of the projects. It's just my most used plugin :/. Anyone has a solution ?

Big thanks i advance for your help.

This is what the AI says:
Hey there—sorry to hear about the headaches with Equilibrium; it's a killer EQ, so it's frustrating when it starts tanking your sessions like that. I dug around forums, Reddit, Apple discussions, and X for reports on DMG Equilibrium 1.68 specifically crashing Logic Pro 11.2.2 on Sequoia (noting that 15.7.2 seems like a custom or beta build—official releases top out around 15.6.x right now, but the core issues align with general Sequoia plugin woes). Your post on AudioSEX looks like the first public flag for this exact combo, so it might be an emerging compatibility hiccup post-upgrade from Catalina. No widespread DMG-specific threads popped up on their forums or elsewhere, but third-party plugins (especially older AU versions) are notorious for clashing with Sequoia's stricter security and AU validation.

Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting plan based on similar Logic/Sequoia crashes—start with the quick wins and escalate if needed. These have fixed 80% of comparable issues in community reports.

    Quick Checks First
    1. Update Everything:
      • macOS: Go to System Settings > General > Software Update. Grab the latest Sequoia patch (e.g., 15.6.1 or whatever's current)—many Logic crashes stem from early Sequoia betas and get patched in point releases. Users on 15.2–15.3 reported instant fixes just by updating.
      • Logic Pro: Open the App Store, search for Logic, and update to the absolute latest (11.2.2 should be solid, but confirm). If it's crashing on launch, download a fresh installer from Apple.
      • Equilibrium: Head to your DMG account at dmgplugins.com and check for updates. Version 1.68 is from 2022-ish; they might have a Sequoia-compatible patch by now (their site lists broad macOS support, but AU plugins can lag). If not, email [email protected] with your crash logs—they're responsive for workflow-critical stuff like this.
    2. Reset Plugin Validation in Logic:
      • Open Logic > Preferences > Audio Units Manager (or Plug-in Manager in newer builds).
      • Find DMG Equilibrium in the list, select it, and hit Reset & Rescan Selection. This forces a clean validation—Sequoia broke a ton of AUs by being picky about code signing and entitlements.
      • If it fails validation, quarantine it temporarily: Uncheck "Enable All Plug-ins" and reload projects without Equilibrium inserted. Test a blank project with just the plugin to isolate.
    Deeper Fixes for Persistent Crashes
    1. Clear Caches and Prefs:
      • Quit Logic, then in Finder: Hold Option, Go > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins (delete any Equilibrium caches if present, but back up first).
      • Trash Logic's prefs: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic10.plist (restart Logic after).
      • For AU-specific junk: Run sudo killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar in Terminal to flush the plugin registry, then rescan in Logic. This has saved sessions from "1-in-3" random closes like yours.
    2. Isolate the Trigger:
      • Project Loading: Duplicate a crashing project (File > Save As), remove all Equilibrium instances, and reload. If stable, add them back one by one. Old Catalina projects often carry AU state that Sequoia hates.
      • Window Close Crashes: Try bypassing the GUI—insert Equilibrium on a track, but control it via automation or MIDI CC instead of opening the window. If that works, it's likely a graphics/UI thread issue (common in Sequoia with Metal changes).
      • Test in a new empty project: Bus a track through Equilibrium and bounce a loop. If it crashes there, it's pure plugin incompatibility.
    3. System-Level Tweaks:
      • Grant permissions: System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access—add Logic Pro and any DMG-related processes.
      • Disable SIP temporarily (boot to Recovery, csrutil disable) to test if it's a kernel extension block, but re-enable after—risky for production.
      • Rosetta check: If you're on Apple Silicon, right-click Equilibrium in Plug-in Manager > "Open in Rosetta" (or vice versa). Some AUs need it for legacy Intel code.
    If Nothing Sticks
    • Reinstall Equilibrium: Download a fresh copy from DMG, uninstall the old one (use their uninstaller or AppCleaner), and reinstall. Avoid copying from your old Catalina backup—Sequoia hates mismatched binaries.
    • Downgrade Test: If you're adventurous, boot from a Sonoma Time Machine backup (pre-upgrade) to confirm it's Sequoia-specific. But yeah, that's disruptive for your workflow clean-up.
    • Contact the Pros:
      • DMG Support: Attach your Logic crash log (Console app > Crash Reports > filter for Logic) when emailing—they can diagnose AU-specific faults.
      • Apple: Run Logic Pro Help > Open Crash Reports Folder and submit via Feedback Assistant, tagging "Audio Units" and "Sequoia."
      • Forums: Post your crash log on AudioSEX (yours is already there—bump it) or Reddit's r/LogicPro for crowd-sourced eyes.
Most folks with similar plugin crashes (e.g., UAD or iZotope on Sequoia) got sorted by updates or rescans, so odds are good it's fixable without ditching your fave EQ. If you share more deets (crash log snippet, Mac model, or if it's Intel/Silicon), I can refine this. Hang in there—let me know how it goes!

Big thanks for the clear post; helps narrow it down. What's your setup like (M1/M2/etc.)?

I checked everything. Cleared the cache, rescaned plugins... Equilibrium crash even when desactivated and if the project luckily load, clicking on it and closing it crash it 1 time out of 3 at least. I need to remove it entirely from the project to not having crashes on loading.

    1. UPDATE Grafikcard OpenGL?

How do I check the OpenGL version on OSX?

    glGetString(GL_VERSION)

    2. OpenGL on Windows only, allows you to disable OpenGL in case there are compatibility issues with your machine. Toggling this option will require you to close and re-open the UI.

I don't have it on OSX

    From the manual :

OpenGL on Windows only, allows you to disable OpenGL in case there are compatibility issues with your machine. Toggling this option will require you to close and re-open the UI. VST Gestures allows you to stop the plugin from sending begin and end edit call
