Look no further than the history of Daniel Ek, his multibillionaire cronies (both in and out of govt backscratching), Spotify and his war weapons company, etc., all being funded by this malarky which the indie sector and average public are blissfully blind eyeing... :drummer:

That one is an absolute can of worms and simultaneously funny which I believe was your intention?
One side can say if there is the slightest peak in a waveform there is no silence which is not untrue. Then someone is bound to come along with an oxymoron that appears to have logic and say even silence has a prescience. I hope your intent was to be funny. :)

its courted at the moment, but i guess they will get out of it.

im wondering if at some point companies like virgin will give in and simply open a sub branch and release at some AI music? cheaper to produce and you can come up with tones of the same music and paying nobody, then design AI humans to marketing it.
its an unreal future imo ...

even more its important to support smaller labels, smaller concerts - or just drop donations to smaller artists if you realy enjoy their work ...

Put a frog directly into boiling water and it will leap out, all scorched! Conversely, put it in a pot of cold water that gradually heats up and it will simply die boiled. We, creative people, are being slowly cooked alive by the 'creative industry'.... sorry, but th-th-that's all, folks!

No, it's recordings of the ambience of the "empty" rooms. You can hear hiss, the noise from the gear, shuffling of people in the room or in the distance, birds outside, the last track has a cat purring into the mic...bit of an asmr vibe. Shame they didn't state which studios as I could see it on the sister site as a sample pack lol.

I assume they've done this to get around the terms of service for many streaming platforms which prohibit uploading pure silence. That rule seems to have emerged from when Vulfpeck exploited that loophole and made $20k off a spotify protest album called "Sleepify" that was completely silent. Wiki/Sleepify

That may be one of the most interesting names anyone has mentioned. Richard Branson is a bit of an enigma.
He is one of a handful of billionaires who seems to sit on both sides. On one side a true philanthropist and fighter for the unique explorative people in the early days of Virgin records, and on the other... well, he does what people expect a billionaire to do. He also opened Virgin airways to lower the airfare costs of the few corporations who were making it difficult for people to fly due to the cost - then he caved in eventually due to expenses flying out the door though that is a poor summary. Sorry for the pun.

Good reference if your intent was to suggest that who knows what he'll do?

No, Branson didn't create Virgin Airlines to help people fly less expensively. His sole responsibility was to make as much money as possible for the shareholders as was his legal fiduciary responsibility, the business model being an economy airline and only that. He's a fucking billionaire after all, making money is the prime directive as a capitalist, nothing less and nothing more and he has played well the game. He owns a 74 acre island in the British Virgin Islands as well as a slew of other huge estates scattered all around for fucks sake and has not one, but two private jets. His kindness is peripheral to his bank account else breaking even and sharing his wealth would be his goal...all else is PR and rationalization.

This may come as a shock to a lot of people but you can actually provide a good service, make a lot of money, and be a good person all the same time. Seriously. I'm not saying it happens a lot but yeah you can.

After what he did with Virgin records you have completely shattered me. I guess when people get a lot of money they never go back to being a good person.

As I see it, this is just an attempt to draw attention in protest. But seriously, progress cannot be stopped. If progress requires violating someone else's "profit," it will still be achieved—legally or illegally. So, this can't be stopped.

For small artists and composers, my advice is: love music, not money. Gather a core community of 50–100 people who see you as a virtuoso in the world of music.

Adapting to new technologies or not is a personal choice.

As for major labels, they will most likely start generating this music themselves, creating virtual artist avatars and pushing them through streaming platforms. (That's my vision of the future.)

So, build your core audience and don’t have high hopes for streaming platforms as a source of income, because they are under the control of major labels.

Streaming does not replace live performances — a live artist with real emotions will always have value, something AI cannot yet replicate. Concerts, live shows, and audience interaction will remain key sources of income.

Major distributors may change their contracts — in the future, they might introduce clauses allowing uploaded music to be used for AI training. This would make it easier for major labels to take money from independent artists, enabling them to clone styles and release AI-generated analogs without paying royalties.

interesting, i will try to get this album, i love ambient-recordings/ASMR, i have a separate sample folder, which contain various noises recordings, they are great to do everything with them

This is actual quite good! for ASMR, very good quality and its very different types of noises, people walking around, different stuff is moved around, very silent gentle noise, keys jiggling, etc

    very good!
Sadly i only found FLAC, no WAV.

So AI is taking care of the music, saving record companies a lot of money. Next their attention will turn to the actual artistes, the biggest money sponge of their whole enterprise. They're fake singers anyway who only mime on videos and in concerts. Taylor Swift has $1 billion dollars of THEIR money! They need to get rid of them. AI singers are free and can be beamed onto stages all over the world at the same time, imagine the income from 1000 simultaneous concerts with 30,000 people at each venue paying $900 each!

Does anybody here doubt their ability to pull this off?

All I can say is that Susie Dent will be disappointed by you starting sentences with the word “so.”

All I can say is that Susie Dent, being British, may be disappointed with your placement of the period between the quotation marks.
