Sheesh that was a pretty long-winded jab at describing how a genre is created. People create music, genres, etc their own way. It doesnt have to me mathematical guitar shreds to be considered good music.

 

Don't panic: in my area clubs/concerts & fitness centers are still closed, those are the only places where edm music perhaps makes sense. If this lockdown continues (and it will) this genre will probably disappear quickly. Nobody in their right mind really listens to those songs while cooking or cleaning the house

What you find on sister site will always depend on what members decide to share.
So if you see much more EDM samples than other genres, it's only because they are the most shared.
May it be because they are the most sold, or because EDM users are more generous, I don't know, I don't use samples....

All I got from your post is that you think "EDM is crap".

 

One of the only pluses of this situation is that integral and sunny have almost disappeared from the sister site since they don't have any material to make money with.

its a mix bag of everything ,and the search bar is'' there'' ,type your desired word like hiphop or trap hip hop
and you get those best results and go through results search pages

sometime you get months of no EDM releated released packs or certain urban genre then boom its EDM raining packs
which make you think we are teenage site producers produce EDM only and we allowed only OUR stuff
then a we found your thread here being posted complaining about too much EDM going on in our teenage lives

by the way you can take any EDM pack and make a good hiphop track out those packs
and onthe otherside you can take any hiphop packs and make '' more hiphop tracks '' because you cant make even jazz out of it

Man a lot of frustration dripping from this thread.
I'm used to the leechers doing pseudo request, screaming the sister site is dead because they can't find the latest crap they're dreaming of.
But the pseudo musicians, thinking of themselves as genius or talented or even vaguely creative and tastefull people, shitting on any genres that aren't theirs, now that's really sad and pathetic.
Really not a fan of "EDM" (American name for a genre that has been around for about 50 years), but any musician should be able to accept any other genre or song they don't appreciate, as long as it's music, and music isn't defined by taste, but by structural elements such as the presence of rythm, melody, harmony, etc. I'm not saying they should like it. But short of extreme stupidity I don't see any kind of argument that justifies their claims and hatred.
Go get a new hobby kiddies.
Mozart would probably be horrified by all your creations and the genres you stand for, but I'm certain he wouldn't deny it's music, be able to gasp what makes it music, and at least this dude was a genius. Not a moron.

I remember an interview where Jerry Garcia said that Rap,HipHop wasn't music. and I remember thinking, "fuck that guy"

 

Then apparently you have trouble reading and we actually agree. Unless of course you think hip hop lacks those structural elements, which it doesn't. Jerry Garcia was putting forward his - shitty - tastes, that and his drug use got him confused. From a structural pov, hip hop, like edm is definitly music.

But J.garcia was a musician not a musicologist ( which I'm not either, I was just putting forward the general definition of what music is, which all specialist agree on, also all dictionaries and most people).
And in the quote you give J.Garcia doesn't give any definition of it, he just bashes a genre based on his tastes.

Not far enough, if you use someone elses synthesizers even building patches from init is only half a step better than loops and one-finger synths, anyone who doesn't build their own musical devices is a thieving simpleton, bonus points if you made your own scales too.
