My real answer is the one I gave last week. You tweaked the levels and eq, applied a little compression, made 4 mixes, then told us a fairy tale about outboard summing.
A = 1
B = 1
C = 1
D = 1

 

Thank You @benderandgaia for this thread, 'cos i can honestly say that it's killed-off any desire on my part to ever waste a single penny on a summing mixer of any type - the differences i can hear (or not) between each of the four versions really could have been achieved as @Lenny Belardo claims.

No Avenger posted a link to some genuine examples of the proper use of a Neve summing mixer which illustrate how effective it can be when used properly. What guarantee do we have that benderandgaia knows a summing mixer from a sewing machine?

 

Interesting answer, In the future I will provide more examples in another thread with full songs mix through the dangerous box and In the box.

You can me a hit the box and them buy gear to improve and achieve that extra mile ,

I would no spend money on a summing box neither if..

-My Monitors are no great
-My Room is not well treated acoustically
-I dont have a conformable chair
-A big computer monitor

I think our studios ups along side the clientele and time.
If you would not use a summing box as much as you would like or capitalized over the investment right away , the best thing is keep the money and search other areas to improve.
