Roland just dropped the ZENOLOGY GX for iPad and it has me wondering what the differences are between the zen core engine in Galaxias and the separate ZENOLOGY Pro plugin? That way if I can use all patches in just the standalone plugin without needing Galaxias and just apply the effects with the ZENOLOGY FX plugin I could possibly save some space, the content in the iPad app may seem barebones compared to the offerings in the museum next door in Arizona but it’s just the ZENOLOGY GX engine and I don’t know if maybe the release from last month just has 4 gigabytes of sound packs in it?

Any reason to keep ZENOLOGY Pro/content if it’s in GX or galaxias as well?

 

Zenology GX has a newer simplified interface (designed to reduce complexity of running Zenology Pro inside Galaxias).

It doesn't support model expansions like Zenology Pro does. GX is essentially a light version of Zenology Pro, and according to Roland isn't replacing Zenology Pro, which will remain the premium full-featured version of Zenology.

 

I was actually thinking that it was the other way around.

 

I’m just wondering if there’s exclusive sound packs that are only for GX that can’t be run in Pro, any patches not compatible or at least not yet exported somehow. If it’s just showing me all the ZENOLOGY Pro sound banks in GALAXIAS I can understand that, but it does feel like something is missing and should be available on both sides.
