Decomposer just released the official v1.0 version of Sitala! It has been out in alpha and beta versions since 2018 but finally the full version is here. To me this looks like the perfect drum sampler to replace ReaSamplomatic5000 in Reaper, which just has awful workflow, and it's also free

Some of the new features in v1.0:

• Sample trimming: Everybody asked for this one, so it’s available now. The main thing people wanted it for was to clean up poorly cut samples, which Sitala now does automatically: if you drop in samples with leading silence, it automatically sets the play start to the correct position.
• Beat slicing: We automatically detect and snap to transients within samples to make it possible to grab individual sounds out of a sample. It’s also possible to slice each chunk out to a separate pad.
• Automatic Multi-Out in Reaper: Sitala automatically detects if you’ve set Reaper up in stereo or multi-out mode and configures itself accordingly. It automatically renames the tracks to correspond to Sitala’s pad names.
• AAX Plugin: We’ve had lots of Pro Tools users asking for Sitala, and this release also includes an AAX version.

Why is Reaper mentioned in the thread title?
The plugin works for all daws.

 

Probably because Reaper doesn't come with a stock Drum Plugin, unlike any other DAW I guess.
Haven't used Reaper for a long time, but if I remember correctly there's only this "ReaSynDR" thing which is as basic it can get.

But I just nearly missed out on a neat, free sampler because of the thread title!

 

This is actually pretty cool. Easy to use and easy to route.Also it's non-destructive which is pretty big (to me)
Only small issues i've noticed is

1. Non Resizable GUI and
2.You can't manually slice samples (could just be me overlooking that feature though)

Either way it's a cool easy to use alternative to Battery etc.

 

Been using this for awhile. For me, it only need a glide/portamento feature and it's perfect!

 

Sitala is great and I find it very useful for simple stuff!

For someone looking for a slightly more advanced sampler, you can check out Grace by One Small Clue.

I just tried Sitala, and was very easy to create Sequencial Circuit Drumtracks preset.
I made 2 sets, one RAW and the other similar as I used to pimp my Drumtracks in the 80's

Also, Poise sampler-rhythm machine has become free since recently.

 

Their installer adds 2 entries in the AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache folder. Don't know what that is, don't like them one bit so I just burned those entries with fire and then carry on.

Grace is still available on the bedroom producer blog page where it'll link you to a github page. I wonder why there is no such page for Poise. Looks like the developer abandoned the site, which would suck.

Also, no disrespect towards Sitala at all, it's super cool. Have been following the project since the beta, and found it to be very usable and intuitive. Indeed a great plugin for Reaper, but also useful in combination with something like ADSR sample manager.

 

Is it possible to "key track" samples in Sitala? For example lets say hi-hat is on D, but if you draw D# in piano roll it plays one semitone higher.

 

I've been a beta tester/user for this for a long time . . . really has come along nicely. I think it's optimized for Reaper in some way(s), but it can be used stand-alone or with DAW.

 

Yes. It's also available on VST4FREE.

I really hope that's not the case.

Not sure about Sitala, but that feature is available on Grace! You can also apply Glide to the samples, like on 808s for example.

 

One Small Clue's website was just fine about a month ago. I'm sure that's only a temporary problem. It will be up and running soon, I'm sure.

Sitala is a great additional sampler, though. For when you need to do a quick and dirty something. It's gotten some really nice features since the last time I checked it [0.9.0 I think]

edit: In the mean time, I suppose I can share OSC's free downloads from his website on Zippyshare. It's not warez, so it should be alright.
