Lol sorry for the typo Sure I meant Pungent Stench!

I remember all those times fondly. Most of the concerts were in a run down shed directly attached to a restaurant. First hang out and drink some beer and get in the mood for the concert. There were about 300 people there each time. So you were almost on stage each time. And yes, that was the heyday of the Death Metal movement, or rather the old guard of the scene. A time machine would be absolutely dreamlike.... Once again to see some bands live ;-)

Here are a few names of the band that come to my mind:

Brutal Thruth, Immolation, Gorguts, Dismember, Morgoth, Vader, Exhorder Tiamat, Sinister, Atheist andComecon (Comecon is with the singer of Entombed).

Somewhere I must have a mountain full of old records, will look for these if i find some time and post more band names!

But here are some more swiss metal bands:
Messiah, Requiem, Silent Death, Samael, Sickening Gore

In the past we also had a band (Harmony Corruption / Terra Morta) and had some gigs, but only in Switzerland. At that time we were asked to play as support band for Napalm Death. But unfortunately it didn't come to that, because our singer had crashed... After some time we disbanded.

But today I'm playing drums again after a few years pause

Until then, have a good day

I know those types of settings, actually the smallest shows I got to see have been my favorite ones. You get to link up with other groups afterwards which makes it more fun. Less chance that randoms show up to smaller shows than at festivals. I bet it was cool as shit to see Death Metal come onto the scene and be part of it all like you have, I only wish I could.

Thank you so much for sharing a more than few bands I've seen around but haven't listened to yet. I will check out your bands too. My condolences about your front man.

That's badass, I've been playing a lot of guitar lately. I'm glad you got back to drums last night. Stick to it man, there's no better feeling than playing an instrument! Thanks for sharing your stories again!

Thanks for showing me another one @Kyrad

I like your other example also and I like bands which have vocals that border on Thrash so Death-Thrash bands are a definite go in this thread.

I love remnants of other genres left in there which remind you what helped shape the sound before it became what it is. Like when I hear Hardcore Punk influences in Thrash for example.

I found some Terra Morta material which is heavy as fuck but the only Harmony Corruption I found was an album by Napalm Death. I'm guessing that was because you were covering their material. Was listening to ton of Napalm Death just last week.

This is some epic death metal, I'm hearing some black metal influences in there too. If anything I probably would classify your band as an extreme metal band. I really love this style! Fuck yeah.

You guys are skilled as fuck. You played drums on those records? God damn man! Your band reminds me of another band I was into 4 years ago but I can't remember their name right now. Dude, hell yes I'm a fan.

oh, our Band has been split up more the 25 Years ago (oh man I am getting old...)...So thats unfortunatelly not our Band :) We had some Demo Material, but you wont find us (our old Band) on any of the given Plattforms.
But its nice to see some one is also using Terra Morta as a Band Name!
Also Harmony Corruption, wahs the very first Band, yeah we had some Covers from Napalm Death as well. One of the Greatest was Dead

Maybe i will find some old Demos in the Studio, on some rusty DAT Tapes.....
Sorry for miss leading here, but still Terra Morta has some wicked Riffs, also Drumming Part is very nice!

Oh sorry I misunderstood you and dug up a band that's not yours lol

It did leave me a bit confused because of the black metal influence which is also not out of the ordinary to be influenced by both when you enjoy heavy music. Still thought their sound was unlike what I imagined your sound to be. At any rate that's still cool and I'm going to be going through the rest of the bands you mentioned.

If you dig up those tapes, feel free to upload. Would be interesting to hear.

Never heard of Morgoth before but I like how they have dark, creepy vibes in their music.

Well God damn, this is going to be a close favorite for me now. I've seen Vader floating around and seen people wear their shirts but never really checked them until now. Thanks again @Kyrad you've showed me a lot of great bands now. Vader is perfect.

Most of the people I knew weren't into old school death so many bands just went right over me since I've had no one to guide me in old school death. Most were deathcore fans tbh lol. I was even looked at as odd by them for liking technical brutal death but now I like old school death the most I think.

Just looked them up on Metallum Encyclopedia and learned they are Polish? That's not something I see in death metal. That's more a black metal thing nowadays. They are so damn good though.

I just got into them today and I regret that I hadn't done it sooner. They are so perfect. Especially the vocals, holy hell they are great. I think I like Vader as much as Obituary.
