a major new version of Metaplugin is just around the corner! Metaplugin v3.0 will included an internal 32/64 bit bridge with seamless integration of 32 bit plugin windows, a dedicated plugin organizer, support for native Apple Audio Unit plugins, two sidechain inputs and up to four times oversampling (without having to reload the plugin chain). It will also come in VST3 format. Should be only a matter of days now… after that, a standalone 32-64-bit plugin wrapper (the first one that supports Windows and OSX and works for VST and AU plugins) will be the next release candidate. Stay tuned!

 

It's officialy out. Update cost 20€ for those who got V2 before April 2017 (free for those who got it after, check your online account), and it's 50€ for people who didn't own V2.

Metaplugin v3 offers you

• a dedicated plugin organizer to have all your plugins in sight all of the time (just drag and drop plugins from there onto the graph area

For those of you that, for whatever reason, still do not own this Swiss Army knife of plugins, the number of possible excuses has just gone down considerably The price, by the way, has remained unchanged, it's still $49 + VAT where applicable-

I sincerely believe that this is a major step forward in the world of plugin chainers and wrappers. Hence, for the first time since its release in 2011, I also ask an update fee from owners of Metaplugin v2 who would like to upgrade to this new v3 release. For only $19 you will be able to enjoy all those new additions and improvements, and keep following the further evolution of Metaplugin over the coming years (all subsequent v3.x updates will of course be free again).

Here's how to update: simply proceed to https://sites.fastspring.com/ddmf/product/metaplugin, press "Order now", and on the next page there'll be a voucher form. Enter UPDATE3 into that voucher form and click the "update voucher" button. Voila, the price will be reduced by $30.

Please make sure to use the same email address for the purchase of the update that you've used already for the purchase of your current Metaplugin license. If you want to change your registered email address, please contact me before making the update purchase.

Soon, there will also be a standalone version of the universal bit bridging solution that comes with Metaplugin, for those who decide they don’t need all the other goodies that Metaplugin has to offer, and focus on the bit bridging part instead. It will also be a first in that it will offer seamless window integration for Windows and OSX, and both VST and Audio Unit plugin (the latter on OSX only, of course).

 

Full description of Metaplugin 3.0:

Metaplugin is a plugin that loads other plugins. As simple as that. Build your own effect networks with this plugin wrapper using any VST/VST3 (and AU, if you’re on Mac) effect you already have on your harddisk. To get you started, a Mid-Side matrix, a fourband crossover filter and a routing plugin are included in the package. This means instant cross-track routing, mid-side, multiband compression/distortion/reverb/… you name it. Of course that’s only the beginning… let your imagination run free, nothing is impossible, from creating your own layered synth sounds to building whole sound generators from scratch using simple modules.

Another favourite use case for Metaplugin is to load VST plugins in Pro Tools (or to load AudioUnits in Pro Tools if you’re on a Mac). Hence, you can use it as a VST to AAX wrapper or an AU to AAX wrapper. While we’re at it: you can also use Metaplugin to load VST plugins in Logic/LogicX (VST to AU wrapper).

Honestly, we can’t think of any reason not to own this baby! Available for Windows (32/64 bit VST/VST3 and AAX plus 32 bit RTAS) and Mac OSX (32/64 bit VST/VST3/AU/AAX and 32 bit RTAS, 10.6 or higher needed). As always, we strongly recommend to check out the demo version (settings not saved, but further fully functional) to see whether it fits your needs!

 

Kind of counter productive having this plug-in and not being able to multithread. I can load up a core with a heavy synth and some insert FX, I can't see myself using this plugin to group even more synths and inserts on a single track.
