Same here bro. To a "t". Used Cubase all the way into mid-late noughties and started using Reaper in 2007, practically since it was released. I'm thinking of giving Bitwig a chance lately. It's the only other "pro" choice for Linux users aside from Tracktion Waveform that I'm not very fond of.

Thank you for the detailed information.
    Have a good day.

How much storage space does it require?
It looks like my C Drive is not much.

    But thanks for the advice.
    Have a good day.

how much do you want to give it? I use 2.5gb for my xp virtual machine, I have office 2003 (full package) installed on it, and Photoshop 5.

I doubt that 16gb number, unless they include alot of other packages..
I have the original windows xp3 cds, and they are only 2 cds.. (so 700mb per cd = 1.4 gb) maybe somebody missed a decimal point. I can beleive 1.6 gb, but not 16gb. Even arturia's fat V collection 9 was less than 10gb.

The Windows XP installation file is typically about 600 MB to 1 GB in size, depending on the version (Home or Professional) and the included service packs. After installation, the operating system itself may require about 1.5 to 2 GB of hard drive space.

I thought about that too, but maybe the 16GB was referring to the suggested VM host memory?

thought exactly the same, wish there was some kind of skin for Reaper

Reminds me one software, not a DAW but a sequencer which is not not bad, has it`s own charm in simplicity of a small Ableton Live
Seq24 - it a shame not updated any more, there is a fork Seq66 on Github of course, but it's so ugly that can't use it, development sadly went some absurdly wrong direction

Hmh, your image link doesn't work for some reason, maybe this one does:

Good news, it still works fine! https://filter24.org/seq24/download.html

Great fun for triggering hardware synths live, it's surprisingly powerful. Not tried Seq66, but yeah, it looks awfully fiddly in comparison. But I guess that's a matter of taste.

I'm pretty sure Seq24 was the first Linux MIDI app I used. Rosegarden was not for me, but checking now, I'm almost surprised to see it's still under active development: https://rosegardenmusic.com, one for the composers:

Record is a music software application from the Swedish developer Propellerhead, which was released in 2009.
However, it has been integrated into Reason since version 6.

    Jeskola Buzz
, or simply Buzz, is the name of a free software studio developed since mid-1997 by Oskari Tammelin of the demo group Jeskola in Finland. Buzz is a plug-in-based, so-called 3rd generation tracker, for which well over 1,000 plug-ins are now available. Buzz also offers VST(i) support. It is divided into three main modules: MachineView, the Pattern Editor, and the Sequencer.

Buzz is a Digital Audio Workstation with a unique top-down approach to music composition known as a tracker interface.

you can go into your display properties and turn down the color and make your entire system monochrome when you want a little quieter vibe.

Buzz also has a piano roll but it's the weirdest one & is on a separate area as well... Buzz pretty solid but I find the last one before it went NET Frame to be the best...
