Anyone know of any alternatives to Audiomulch, not just by being modular in design but having something like the 'Metasurface' that's just as elegant/advanced?

Plogue - Bidule (Modular Environment Plugin)

Bidule is a realtime modular creation studio aimed mainly at artists seeking a new creative environment to experiment with. With Bidule, you create your own live music creation environment, inserting audio and MIDI devices, ReWire Devices, VST instruments and plugins. Patching them anyway you like, in realtime, while it plays.

    VCV Rack

While primarily a virtual modular synthesizer, VCV Rack offers a lot of flexibility in terms of audio processing and can be used in a modular fashion similar to Audiomulch. It also has a growing library of modules.

Thread is cooking up now... Seen stuff I haven't seen before...

    Onward>>>

Bluemoon Sound Club once commercial then set free very fast composing enviro, I love it but don't like the plinky 8bit sounds trying to figure out how to make 8bit 22k samples without the phukin' dithering noise to change out in Sound Club-

    Developer is not without humor-

Done on a scanner decades ago>>>

Believe it or not original site STILL UP>>>

    http://www.bluemoon.ee/history/scwin/index.html

Here's a 'coked up' tune someone did, quite a spectacle-

    Takabo Software Domino English Translated-

Sonant 4K Synth System... Listed as a Tracker is more of a 'Gridder'...

Aodix 2.34 - Last Aodix to have a sampler & Built-in FX (which were/are quite GOOD)-

Arguru back in the day doing alotta experimentation & changes so in some cases a new version is a completely different program...

    Freebase .002 was a Tracker-
    [IMG]

But version 1.0 was a Piano Roller!-

I used Voyetra Plus Pro for a bit that came with a Soundblaster 2, and while some people have apparently figured out how to use it with Dosbox, I reckon even retro nerds find little use for it unless they're absolutely insane. But it's been absolutely ages, I'm not sure I'll ever be bored enough to re-visit it.

It was fully featured and pattern-based though and I'm pretty sure it only worked with the built in FM synth and the SB joystick port to MIDI adapter.

EvoBeats SequentialVibes - A Tracker from 2003 that never quite caught on... Used VSTi for instruments & VST-DX-DMO for FX... Actually one of the easiest trackers to use-

    Nassen RaXnTraX-

A much earlier concoction by same Nassen Guy-

A sequencer by some German folk about 20 years ago 'Geniator'... Look tempting but trying it found workflow poor only drawing in notes works-

Then there's IoNeO Aero Studio... Quite like this funky thing... I remember visiting the website in 2008-2009 which was about when it closed for good... An unfinished sequencer but with very good workflow but still some items on GUI 'not functioning' Combo tracker-piano roller... The upshot is painting notes in the piano roll...

At least that's how I did this tune, painting notes in piano roll... Did this in Aero Studio about 10 years ago, it's not very good at all but some have liked it through the years, weird how that works out...

There's old Rocktave DeltaSP 1.62 LFE was very good freeware 21 years ago went onto be Oscillastation, then MaCaW...

Here playing Skale Tracker inside it as VSTi-

Geniator Software Engineering - Geniator XS-1 --> [DEMO!!!] Works in Windows 11

    Version: 1.3 (x86) | File name: xs1setup.exe | Size: 21.5 MB

This all-in-one Music Workstation entraps you into new worlds of sound production. From the 32-voices synthesizer over the 16-channel mixer, effect processors and drumkits up to the 64-track sequencer, everything what you need is contained to compose instrumental music pieces.

Yeah, Well mine is not a demo but one thing I forgot to add is that the GUI is in English but the PDF Manual is in German... I spent about 3 hours one night annotating the German PDF into English... Some of the GUI elements are tagged a bit confusing, like 'timbres' is actually 'presets' on-on>>>

Ensoniq PARIS user for over 25 years now... and it still sounds better than most ever will IMHO.
Still one of the most underrated DAWs most never heard of... but if you know, then you know. :winker:

I do have two other DAW computers running Studio One and every now and then Reaper. I recently put Reason on my laptop to take advantage of their Regroove and I'm thinking of loading Ableton up again with my Push as I like how it makes me create differently.

Never heard of that one, THX...

Sometimes the old can be dealt with different... Here is old Arguru's NoiseTrekker 2 r12 but since it has MIDI out I hooked it up to the multi-timbral Farbrausch Synth which is housed in SAViHost... A great match as NoiseTrekker has 16 tracks & Farbrausch has 16 voices-

Also Protrekkr is the modern updated version of Arguru's NoiseTrekker 2 ans along with AXS my favorite 'closed-in' Tracker... It is 16 tracks but now each can have up to 16 note lanes each & up to 4 FX lanes each track, much improving done here...

Protrekkr has same MIDI IN/OUT setup trying all kinda crazy setups for MIDI sound module... I think MaCaW is one of the best-

MaCaW has some of the most powerful native VSTi-

The most powerful is Universal, which can make sound from internal waveforms, images or SF2... This makes it the most powerful soundfont player ever conceived...

This is just 10% of all the available panels in Universal, made this GIF just a couple months ago-

One nice improve in Protrekkr is the addition of 'Slider Lanes'... You use same HEX lanes but augment keys to produce BUZE-like slider lanes to freely adjust FX commands or by using a '90' in the pan column one can send MIDI CC messages to other shite>>>

Yeah, me neither, I had to download it just to see it. I could only find version 2.
think it might be on archive.org, if you want to give it a reach around...

Yeah, the Yamaha XG was the shit, I abused the hell out of my SW60XG (an ISA card), playing the sounds through the FX processor. I loved it, weird synth burbles, and it might've been the first amp simp I've ever used. I'm sure it gets mentioned here every now and then, Yamaha did a VST of it: https://veg.by/en/projects/syxg50/

Needs a bridge but that's no biggie, works fine with BridgeWize at least.

Doesn't look much, and straight off the box it's a simple GM/XG player really. But it responds to RPN/NRPN/Sysex making it very programmable, see the list here http://studio4all.de/htmle/frameset090.html

*edit:* the SW was an ISA card, not PCI, fix'd

Gol, who Genius was unable to reach for comment, said in a rare interview from 2003 with Sonikmatter that he had no background in music. He felt that the two existing software midi drum sequencers, Hammerhead Rhythm Station and Propellerhead’s Rebirth 338, were frustrating to use. The problem with the programs, Gol found, was that you couldn’t visualize all the different sounds playing at once, so he decided to make a midi sequencer that didn’t bury its features in an overly complicated interface.

In 1998, Image Line released a free demo of Gol’s midi tracking software, FruityLoops, unsure if anybody would want it. It turned out, the program was too popular for its own good.

Amazing what he stated about the removed 'worm' from the fruit that some users said it looked like a 'PENIS'... So the 'PENIS' was removed... I think such users probably Can't stop thinking abut penises, all I see is a worm with eyes>>>
