Really fun synth! I'm enjoying a lot with my roli Seaboard M. I've one question: the only way I can make KONTRAST to react to slide is to config the Seaboard as single channel, as MPE doesn't seems to do anything. So polyphonic MPE is out of the question on release or am I doing something wrong?

Of course it supports full MPE including polyphonic slide - developed and tested with Osmose, Seaboard(s) and Exquis.
Most likely you did not tell your DAW that you want this plugin to be in MPE mode!?

The plugin itself is less than 50 mb!
The 350 presets and about 200 wavetables -> this is why it needs roughly one gigabyte on your drive

 

I can’t believe it’s also an MPE monster, once I get the Mac version it’ll play nicely with my lumi keys block, is there a part of the manual that lists the included effect types? Wanna see how much further you put this monster over the top cause if Myth/Zyklop go crazy with effects, maybe this will too!

 

Is that why Kult, Myth and Novum take up so much space? Samples and presets?

Dawesome Kontrast – A New Approach to Wavetables

Classic wavetable synthesizers divide audio into a number of "slices," which are then arranged like a string of pearls so that the user can navigate through them. Kontrast takes a different approach. Here, the wavetables are represented by a graphic with shades of gray.

The sequence is carried out using so-called shapes, which scan the graphic in specific paths. Dawesome speaks of a "whole zoo" of different shapes, ranging from simple to highly complex: circles, spirals, flowers, chaotic, etc. For the selected shape, the position, rotation, angle, speed, etc., as well as how and where the graphic is scanned, can be determined.

It is also possible to import your own photos, graphics, or self-designed or painted images to use as wavetables.

For further processing, there is a filter section with various algorithms, similar to those found in other plug-ins from the developer. Several envelopes, LFOs, and other sources are available for modulation. There's also an integrated step sequencer. The plug-in also supports the MPE standard.

Effects can be accessed in five slots per preset. Options include reverbs, delays, chorus, granular, micro looper, phaser, compressor, and OTT. The sound character of the entire plug-in can be quickly adjusted using the Vibe, Fat, and Bite modes.

As I understood black can be translated to -1 and white is +1.

I have seem some videos where the image or wavetable have colors - blueish, greenish and purple - do they have any meaning?

Yes!
There are different VIBE modes, each with a certain character: WARM, MODERN, CONSOLE, DIGITAL. Each VIBE mode has a different color.
So depending on your needs this is a way to fine tune the overall sound character with a simple control.

 

So images you import become black and white aside from choosing a model which just changes the whole palette?

 

The parts of Kontrast would make great VCV modules, like the oscillator section could be its own module, the filters, plus they don’t have presets and would be smaller and give our racks and patches more power!
