    That's a philosophical question.

People are always looking for oneness. Multiplicity always creates tension and challenges for the brain. That's why people like to break multiplicity and be drawn to oneness. The more powerful that oneness, the better. That's true of everything.

    There's no better sounding daw.

But each user has their personal preferences. Some don't prefer working with multiple daws. Some users prefer one workflow more than others.

And price is also a main fact.

It's more like the girls. Some prefer fair, some prefer tan. Some like different qualities and they don't say every girl is same tho. One person doesn't like Brazilian doesn't mean that others do so.

At the end of the day it's completely user dependent.

Because my nutsack is all loose & wrinkly.

No wait. It is all smooth & taught.
It WAS all sagging & wrinkly, but now it is smooth and tight.

And that is the reason people argue over DAWs.
Sometimes smooth & taught , sometimes loose & wrinkly.

Read some books like Sapiens, Non-Violent Communication and Influence. You'll understand it's all biological / psychological. Our brains crave to be consistent with our choices. It wants to be comfortable. This influences our behaviour in everything we do and say.

Some people make war about DAW, cars, football clubs, and a long etc...
It's because of their need to participate and belong to something, while they do not build their own life through their own informed choices.
This end up in frustration, and frustration is the base of violence.

there are many options to choose from, none of them being overall superior, there are pros and cons with every single one of them
...so people obtain and use those various DAWs, BUT once they go to educational facilities, want to co-op with others, work in professional studios.... they clash with die-hard fans - mostly about-to-retire ProTools users - who just make fun of others' DAW choice because these dinosaurs are scared of rookies making better music and better mixes than them - and since old dogs can't learn new tricks, the constant war over DAWs persists,

me as a Reaper user, I acknowledge the sheer amount of functionality in my DAW of choice is beyond my knowledge, so I don't behave as know-it-all person
    - would I jump onto another DAW if let's say Reaper died out and I wouldn't find a compatible computer anymore?
yea why not, I am not scared of learning new things if they are good for my needs and are worth my time

...in the end I see people forget audio stuff is about creativity and joy, not technical wankery

At home in front of your monitor on your PC, you are the sole boss and you install what you want.
More autonomy and self-determination (freedom) is not possible.

Because they haven't realized that real middle aged men who can't face the fact that their sex lives are deader than JFK throw a small fortune on modular gear and go DAWless.

Paul Reed Smith said of their mid-range guitars that "we're no longer making these for the practicing musicians, instead they are guitars for the practicing dentists" (quote not exact, but in spirit). That's often the case for most modularists, synths for the practicing engineers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Paul Reed Smith starts making shirts and watches to be honest.

Where is this from? Looks like a site survey, but then again, there are so many ways these could be counted... userbase / sales volume / profit / survey etc.

Looks about right, but a couple of things strike me as odd. I'm pretty sure Bitwig would be below Reason/Reaper. Garageband in the "real world" would be higher as it's free for macOS/iOS and actually used by a lot of people (non-engineers that is, but we're not people). Also, while we might question Audacity even being on the list, it's fucking huge in the podcasting/youtube content creator segment.
