Probably a SSD will boost your PC's performance by a huge lot.

I'd go for "playback & live tracks" - this way everything that logic handles is evenly distributed on CPU's cores.

Worst DAW: SAW Studio, Ableton (no PFM), Studio One (no PFM) and a lot of other issues. Reaper and Harrison Mixbus because of the crap CPU management. Cubase 8 because of the Crap GUI.

    PFM = Pre-Fader-Metering

All DAWs still lack the fundamental and most important part of any song creation process.
Guess what. Yeah it's providing smart facilities for composing such as below MIDI file.

This lowers my enthusiasm for using them. I mean no one can learn music production by just sitting behind any of them because they are just for the next stage. The stage after composing.

Artistic aspects of the song can not be satisfied with technicalities have been accommodated with all the means of comfort inside nowadays DAWs.

Some people claim that they're getting inspired by playing out with plugins but I should admit that it's just an airy imagination.

There is no worse DAW, no one ever said what is a bad Fostex Tascam, we just recorded. We have so much choice now to waste time talking about technologies rather than recording. They have all the same bit rates, what Daw has the most bugs and describe them that should be the thread that will determind which one is the worse?

I think Studio One sort of has PFM.. if you download the vu meter addon. I'm hoping that big update coming up will introduce it on the actual meters though.

Fl Studio is good, I love it. I like their approach. IL's views are close to mine when it comes to sound.

You should try it if you haven't. Reaper has great skins and it looks good too.

Tried Pro Tools once, liked it however, it's not meant for me.

  11. Dickens had it right. We live in a dichotomous world…still.
It was the best of DAWs , it was the worst of DAWs, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superliquiditive degree of comparison only.

Is exactly the opposite way. When set to "playback" Logic load cores at the same amount while "live" is supposed to live some cores out for live performing....

Don't bother. It's in the manual, about the concept of Live Track: When you select a track, Logic will assume that you want to record on it therefore it will do it's best to ensure the lowest latency possible.

Until the last update, what was happening was overloading of a single core (probably for priority reasons, on a 12-core Mac Pro, this solution went fine). Now, with the new multithreading option for live tracks, the processing is balanced over multiple cores to avoid overloading of a single one. It how it's supposed to work and indeed it is how it works (tested on multiple macs).

Lolol. I've tried most of them.

Logic is Complete but complex like hell
Live is Ridiculously easy to use and speedy workflow
Studio One looks cheap - Even Reaper looks better
    Cubase feels old and outdate
    Pro Tools is Jurassic

I am currently with Live. I can finish a track mix master within a 72 hours.

i don't see it that way.. best or worst..i see

the daw i enjoy and find intuitive

and the daw that i can't grasp the workflow

daw supposed to be the same thing in a general way... a plataform for music creation and production... but like many other things in life... we like some stuff and we don't like other stuff...

but that dosen't make any better or worst than the other
