I am not certain that concept of dance geography still applies in our contemporary world that is hyper connected. There are of course traditional dances but even those movements are now incorporated into melting pot of mishmash acrobatic dance productions that are just as much far eastern as they are quasi American modern Afro-interpretative.

I mean you now got skinny straight hipped and flat butted Russian girls twerking on Youtube to Carrabean Dance hall but since they had a shot of wodka before the scene are wearing a chapka and have throw in a few Ukrainian Cossack kicks the title of the video is / awesome Russian Hip Hop Dance. The example could have just as well used Korean dancers et w.e.

There is nothing new under the sky for long now. Everyone just takes whatever and slaps a label on it calls it their own because information moves so freely it easier to just appropriate than create. In a way it is a sad endemic decline in creativity not just for dance, but for everything.

New things do and will come it just never comes as fast as we want it to. Who knows maybe you will create the next new thing, I hope you do and if you do I am paying attention.
