    MAX 7
    ('v7.0.1')

Available for your 'Ableton LIVE 9' Version

EDIT : *** I forgot to mention in the first publication of this Article that this is valid for the 'WIN PC' Version, because the 'MAC OSX' Version is already available as 'cracked' Version since a few days where you know... ***

For those still not aware, the New Version of 'MAX', the 'v7.0.1' is available since a few days...

I simply downloaded the '30-Day Demo' Version from the Official Homepage, I used the well-known 'trick' of re-authorizing my 'Ableton LIVE 9' Version (mine is the 'v9.1.5' at this moment) as done with all the several 'MAX 6' Versions and Updates previously available, and I get it installed and working properly... *yes*

:excl: BE AWARE that I use it since 2 days ONLY ! and maybe this 'New Version 7' may not be fully functional after the '30-Days Demo' !?! :excl:

Anyway, I just wanted to inform some 'MAX' Users of this fact, nothing more...

    What's New in MAX 7 :
    MAX 7 is patching reimagined.
Now with a new interface optimized for speed and simplicity, major performance improvements, and a collection of powerful new tools to realize your ideas faster than ever.

Get the '30-Days Demo' of 'MAX 7' ('v7.0.1') here :

    https://cycling74.com/downloads/

After downloading it, install it, then at the end of the process when you'll be asked if you want to launch it, DON'T LAUNCH IT directly !!! *no*
Before to launch your 'Ableton LIVE 9' Version, simply use the 'famous' 'I/O' Patcher (it will ask you to locate your 'Authorize.auz') to 'patch' and re-authorize your installed 'Ableton LIVE 9' Version, and all should be fine ! *yes*
Preferably, 'double-click' on your 'patched' 'Authorize.auz', instead of directly launch your 'Ableton LIVE 9' Version thanks to its own '.exe'. This process should re-authorize and load your 'Ableton LIVE 9' properly... *yes*

    A last Tip :

You'll certainly need to change your 'MAX' Folder Setup in the 'Ableton LIVE 9' Preferences. Simply indicate the correct 'Path' of your newly installed 'Cycling '74 MAX 7' Folder instead of your previous 'Cycling '74 MAX 6' Folder...
Don't worry, that 'New Version 7' will be installed in its own New Folder, thus not affecting your previous 'MAX 6' Version if installed.
That way, if after the '30-Day Demo', something goes wrong with that New Version 7' ('Demo' expires,... ), you can simply 'switch' once again to the exact location of your 'MAX 6' Version, always in the 'Ableton LIVE 9' Preferences... *yes*

Are you saying that you can open Max standalone (without Live running) with no demo nag-screen?

    @ Angie,

At a first glance... it seems that YES ! *yes* :dancing:

By cons, as explained in the Snapshot that I done for you, I only get the 'v7.0.0 (Build f6a5768) 64bit', despite the fact that I downloaded and installed the 'Demo' Version 'v7.0.1' !?! :dunno:

And yes, this Snapshot depicts 'MAX 7' launched in its 'Standalone Mode'... *yes*

So my advice will be that you first go to download that 'MAX 7 Demo Version', that you install it and authorize it thanks to the 'Ableton LIVE 9' Procedure that I explained in my Article, then launch it in its 'Standalone Mode' to see what happens for you... *yes*

    Good Luck !

Great and in depth tut StudiBro. Thanks for that.

I seem to recall from my last updating of Max that the standalone is "good" for the 30 days after which it no longer opens unless you "do the right thing". (Whatever that might be?) :dunno:

M4L `should` however continue to run as it is part of your suite, ahem, purchase.

Is MAX 7 less a CPU hog than Max 6 ? Heck even MIDI Plugins can take up a high amount of cpu

Waiting for the day when Max will be fully integrated within Live (without having to load every time you open a Max plug).

    Won't ever happen I'm afraid. :(
