hello all.. i read something earlier about ghostspectre, but that was for win 10. does anyone know of some good stripped down win 11 modded builds? even if they are custom with hack/util addons, ui mods, whatever. just always curious whats out there. thanks!

 

I use ReviOS. Has been working great for me thus far. Excellent DAW performance and very light on resources.

 

I use "X-Lite Neon Ultimate" offline with "Start all back". It's Windows 11 22H2 activated as Enterprise edition with KMS. Uses just under 1 GB RAM and boots to desktop at the same time the screen wakes up on a old I5 Dell Optplex 3020 SFF ;) I would even say it's generally faster than my Windows 10 Pro. Games got a slight FPS bump. So far no crashes or latency problems. But Ghostspectre or other lite versions might be better, because I had still Defender running and some other unnecessary services that eat CPU time and RAM.

 

I'm talking about Win10 but both modded versions exist for Win11.

I've used Windows 10 for roughly 3 years with GhostSpectre (22H2 and earlier). The last 4 months I've used X-Lite mod (22H2, this mod was formerly called Phoenix). They both work just fine.

X-Lite use less disk at first but when all important soft is installed it's close.

 

There are GhostSpectre Win11 builds. Quite a few actually. Although why one would ever want win11 as a first choice is beyond me...

is there any mod WITH defender included?

 

Funny you should ask that because precisely in Ghostspectre's mods there's always the option to install with or without defender.
With X-Lite's I don't remember by heart

 

Get ghostspectre. You won't be sorry. Been using his builds for years. Epic.

With GhostSpectre builds, once installed, there is a text based gui that one can use to in/uninstall many various services and parts of the OS that were removed or previously uninstalled. It's quite customizable.

 

Does anybody have any experience with Tiny 11?

 

I like the idea of a bloatware-free win10, but unless its for a studio pc with no internet card, you have to trust the ISO someone cobbles together.

Are the builds opensource contributors, why trust the builds? the name ghostspectre like wtf, its a modified win10 with dark mode, not some new radium charged rotary engine?!

 

Atlas 0.3 will have a with or without option for Win 11 when it is released.

 

If you don't need updates and want to use it offline it works fine. But remember you don't know everything the person did to the Installation, but as a Virtual Maschine for some testing and virtualize applications it runs fine for me.

 

Because Win11 handles background services Way better than Win10 did. The Spying from MS is heavy, but can be turned off with the well known Tools.

 

Production machines don't belong on the internet (at all) in the first place. But if you must, run a decent firewall with a real-time dashboard (not the ms firewall) that shows what is connecting to what. That way if there is anything you missed during your optimization process you can catch them and patch the holes.

 

Not everybody is able to have 2 machine (1 for Production (Offline) and (1 for online Stuff).
I recommend Glasswire as Firewall and to see where Programms etc. are connecting to. And Voodoo Shield to Lock your Computer when online so there can be no installations or Scripts installed without your permission.

It's just like anything else. You have to have the right equipment for the job... "Not able to have" is an excuse for 'don't really care' or 'unimportant'. There are plenty of reconditioned PC outlets around that sell older machines (like older 4 core DELL office boxen) for next to nothing, which makes the excuses obsolete. Older machines for internet use are THE BEST for that application. Especially with older DELL win 7 class boxen, the IME on them is easily disabled and make for EXCELLENT internet surfing platforms. Just like installation of a managed switch to keep your local and internet vlans mutually exclusive is a 'not able to have'. It's this kind of apathy that makes for all kinds of issues ranging from "my plugins used to work but don't anymore" to "my machine is running like a slow POS I think I have a virus or malware". Proper home network planning and operations is no joke anymore due to the fact that everything from spam to malware is trying to fuck up your shit on a minute to minute basis while you're on the I-network.
