    I come from Synology and QNAP systems, then went to Proxmox. Now, I use OMV7 with Proxmox Kernel. I find it's easier to manage NAS duties, containers, and also has KVM and LXC capabilities. I don't use ZFS or RAID, EXT4 and SSDs are the sweet spot.

    Same link, 8 lines further down:
    • Clarity Vx / Pro and Clarity Vx DeReverb / Pro:
      Windows:
      • Intel Xeon processors are not supported
      • Supported on Intel processors Gen 6 and above
      • AMD processors lower than Ryzen 9 are not supported
    I didn't even see the "no Xeons allowed" before, lol..

    You-tubers are for the most part simpleton morons (not ALL - just most). I take what "YT pundits" have to say with a large grain of salt. That said, the reasoning behind the whole "anti-nVidia (or GPU in general) for DAW" thing stems from their drivers using inordinate amounts of system resources compared to non-GPU type video cards. Personally, I have been using nVidia GPU's in audio (and video) production builds for decades, and while it is evident that nVidia drivers do seemingly consume more resources it has never been an issue with regards to audio productivity or capacity. When I build systems for production use they are built with audio and video production in mind because the machines are used for both discipline's. I choose NVidia GPU's for their CUDA capabilities because every major video processing system (on PC at least) is now capable of utilizing CUDA acceleration. Hell, even Handbrake is CUDA and nVidia codec capable now. And, as you pointed out, this says nothing about the capabilities of CUDA now being taken advantage of by audio processing app's as well.

    Apple is proprietary. They cut off their own noses to spite their faces every time they make idiotic decisions about invading peoples privacy, and imposing hardware restrictions like making nVidia GPU's inaccessible even as an add on. Apple didn't always seem to practice this stifling, back-asswards thinking, but in 2013 apple went AMD. Even when AMD was still not the choice for video production. Apple had up to then retained a chunk of that market with final-cut pro and nVidia, but has since lost that gambit in light of their shortsightedness and bumbling decision making going for exclusivity with AMD.

    I still have to laugh every time I see someone on here or elsewhere try to start up a apple vs pc "thing". The "thing" between the platforms doesn't exist anymore and hasn't existed for a long time. But that still doesn't stop the occasional monkey from trying to start something. Personally, I am not a fan of either platform because there are shitty aspects to both. I have stuck with the PC side because hardware and software wise they are much more amicable to being twisted around to suit the USER's needs rather than the OEM's.

    on a side note, I always laugh when I tell those "industry Pros" (that swear ProTools and Apple) that AVID's own flagship S6 mixer runs Windows inside :rofl:

    yes this is true, buying an apple can be like renting an Uber, it will get you where you want to go and you don't need to know how to drive or how a car works etc.

    whereas building a pc (not buying a prebuilt pc - which is stll like renting an uber) allows you to get your kit built to purpose and budget and removing/deleting spurious shit you don't need and don't have to pay for, but it requires knowledge and wisdom often gained by trial and error off of previous builds.

    You are just not going to build yourself the perfect pc on your first build, but by the 2nd or 3rd you should have it mastered.

    as some bright bulb once said, you don't really own anything until you've torn it apart and put it back together again.

    I always thought it was about personal preference.
    Both platforms have decades long random track records of new O/S' releases having bugs, new hardware under-performing against expectations and random hardware incompatibilities and failures. Apples and oranges, or PC's in this case.

    as easy as that:
    Code:
    var want_mac_os = false
    var want_to_use_pc_parts = false

    if(want_mac_os && !want_to_use_pc_parts)
    {
      console.log("get a Mac")
    }else if(want_mac_os && want_to_use_pc_parts)
    {
     console.log("build a Hackintosh")
    }else if(!want_mac_os && want_to_use_pc_parts){
      console.log("build a pc")
    }else{
      console.log("get a playstation?")
    }
