    Wow,its true.
    Thought its a mistake first.
I hit the last option LE and hit add to card and voila its 269 euros.
Updating from Cubase Artist is only 150 euros now.

you are welcome, even knowing how much of a BITCH Cubase can be, i must say its the only choice for me on a long term run.
And its all LEGIT, all the integrated VST3 pugins are underestimated imho. The synth retrologue 2 is great, too.
Just buy any cheap Steinberg USB Audiointerface starting at abt 80 Euros in Germany, then u have the Cubase AI version and approve for the upgrade von Steyr explained.

Just keep in mind its until AUGUST 15th!

I hit the button to upgrade from Cubase 8 to 8.5 and it is still $49.99. For 10 dollars more I can purchase a different DAW. LOL.
No a cheap upgrade to me. Since 8 to 8.5 features are not that great.

You might do it any way bro, since the upgrade to 9er will then cost you a lot more.

its funny how much steinberg charges for non major updates(9x to 10x is a major update for other daws), comparing it with ableton, which has also its 100+€ per major update, haha not looking better. :D

only good way is IL way of doing it. im riding on lifetime free update since v8 and now we have 12.3!
i could bring more examples. its crazy what steinberg does there and people pay the price without thinking about it.

anyway 40% is really nice still. (when you keep in your mind you are still dongle chained :dunno:).
alone from that perspective, i would never buy cubase, to many "minus" points for me to feel comfortable.

Some of us have no other options really.
If you do orchestral projects there are only so many daws you can choose from.
I have been using it for years and am used to it,but if i was new to music production i would probably seriously demo Reaper first.
I dont give a f... about the dongle,we live in a matrix any way, that dongle is just one of the glitches, lol, its not even there.....shit,its bending...

I was think that same thing also, I also might dump it. Not sure yet since I have really not been happy about the performance on my PC with it.
I am not trying to start a war with you but to me it seems very heavy on my CPU even when I just open it with an empty project.

Nice reply Von I am really impressed. I also totally agree. That is also my issue for another $ 10 I can get reaper and it really is lean and mean. Also it has many free upgrades.

They seem not to nickle and dime the users to death.

    I get you.
Have you tried to install 7.5 to see if the cpu behaves better? You can have all versions installed with one license.
Reaper is a powerful daw that can probably rival any daw on the market.
It costs less than some cheap ass plugins yet you can legally produce and sell music with it,its worth just for that alone.
Also,i`ve been impressed by what @ed-enam showed me Reaper is capable of.

Nope, it is August 24th and I can get it for €269,40 but I guess I stick to Ableton which really is a rip off in terms of it's price........

yes i unterstand that. its not to easy to go to a new daw. i remember my switch, it took me good a year to feel nice.
yeah i saw for example Junkie XL with his huge soundtrack template, it would kill ableton (i am honest there), like you said reaper can handle such projects well too, but its all to late, once you are settled. ;)

you know my view of dongle already, so there is nothing to add.

Yes of course and i respect your view and your choice of daw.

@midi-man for the price of Cubase's sale you could get 4 licenses for Reaper,
then put them in your friends' stocking for Christmas :bleh:

Sstill this is tempting since I own AI from a hardware purchase, would be worth it just to have a
chance to finally try it out since Cubase 5 !

Yes Von I have and 7 and 7.5 are much better, but still not close to Reaper from what I am experiencing..What kicks me in the A%$ is that They sold one of the upgrades as a cpu reduction benefit and yet to be honest it should have been free to all users.

Aw SHIT. It ends tomorrow. Why didn't I see this sooner? I'm too broke for it right now, but if they'd given a couple weeks I could have bought artist and upgraded. I guess it's not meant to be. I think Von's propaganda is really starting to get to me
