Scalable GUIs are a feature of VST 3.x. It works on the communication layer, so both, the plugin and the host must support it. So have a look at VST 3.x instead of 2.x and ask the plugin manufacturer about the resize feature(I am pretty sure Cubase supports 3.x just fine). For those in love with tech, here's from the SDK:
    "Sizing of a view
Usually the size of a Plug-in view is fixed. But both the host and the Plug-in can cause a view to be resized:
Host : If IPlugView::canResize() returns kResultTrue the host will setup the window so that the user can resize it. While the user resizes the window IPlugView::checkSizeConstraint () is called, allowing the Plug-in to change the size to a valid rect. The host then resizes the window to this rect and calls IPlugView::onSize().
Plug-in : The Plug-in can call IPlugFrame::resizeView () and cause the host to resize the window. Afterwards IPlugView::onSize() is called.
Please only resize the platform representation of the view when IPlugView::onSize() is called.
    "

How the plugin manufacturer realize the resizing (vector based graphics, OpenGL, Bitmap rescaling) is totally dependent on their taste. The DAW has no influence on it.

Yes true but the Reapers GUI is not as pretty as Cubase.

What you are missing is that the pretty GUI makes it sound better.

Lol I love it when people pop in to tell you their DAW already has something that was added.

I guess Steinberg was just busy with making Variaudio, a great mixer workflow, chord tracks, the best vocal comping system available, etc etc. I guess they would have added a little panel to the UI sooner if they had time :dunno:

I do think it's a little funny that after Studio One has been kind of a mini Cubase for so long, Cubase is now taking ideas from Studio One with the lower zone.

Yes today all kids use the eyes instead of their ears (hence most of the crappy music being released and played on radio and tv)
    Remember
If it looks good it is good period

the Lower Zone is for laptops, to use cubase properly you need 2-3 monitors with the mixer in full screen.

actually you could split mixer and timeline already with cubase 5 but then the midi editor opens in a different window, with LowerZone everything is smooth.

i don't think the idea of lower or upper zones is anything new, i remember many apps running on atari doing every kind of trick to make space, including a split timeline/mixer/editor ... in 1988.

I fell in love to Cubase at times of SX3 :) than 5 (cracked ones)...as a thank to Steinberg I bought Cubase 7. When 8 come up, it has not so many improvements for me to buy it. So I waited. Now....9 come up and sill it has not any cutting edge feature to force me to buy. BUT....even now it is 250 EURO to update from 7. Should I still wait to 10? to have it for 329 ? The pricing of Steinberg is insane for the updates.

I think it is kind of strange that it took nine major versions to recognize that you can put certain stuff in the lower part of the monitor.

Actually Von. I really was hoping the new Cubase 9 was going to blow me away and make me regret moving to Reaper.
I am not bitching at all just replying to other peoples comments and agreeing with them where I have the same feeling's.
Now if that is wrong ,then that is not what this forum is about it's about a discussion.
I can appreciate you being a dedicated Cubase user also.
If that offends you because you are a dedicated Cubase user I am sorry I was also a dedicated Cubase user once.

It's kool Von. I understand. I have been on forms where people do nothing but bitch. I was not though just commenting on others observations.

Nothing is perfect even Reaper has it flaws that they need to address.
