Cubase 9.5.50 Crash on Startup [Solved]

    Dear Lads/lasses,

    Just updated to Cubase 9.5.50 (legit), however, upon startup Groove Agent SE causes the app to crash and exit. I removed the .dll file, and suddenly Cubase starts smoothly. (Windows 10 Build 1803 x64 Legit.)

    eLicenser is up to date.

    Any ideas how I can solve this?

    Have a lot of projects with Groove Agent on it.

    There are a few options.
    If you know for sure that it is the DLL, you obviously have tried reinstalling this update.
    You can downgrade and install the prior update (If you deleted the DLL).
    The new linking system (FLS) in the Win 10 1903 cumulative update, allows for thousands of DLL's to load. It also depends on your system whether you can upgrade. technically, you can in theory load unlimited plugins with 1903. Cubase 10 also gets rid of the problem but do the updates if you choose this path.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the reply. It seems like Groove Agent SE crashes my Cubase 8.5 as well (which previously didn't). I took you on your suggestion, and downloaded 1903, but a quick search on the web and this forum indicated compatibility issues. Additionally, Steinberg officially support 1803 for Cubase 9.5.41 and up and support 1903 for Cubase 10.

    I'm planning on holding off on the the update for now, any other ideas though?

    Fixed it.

    Solution:

    You could update Windows 10 to Build 1903, but it is not a pre-condition. However, if you choose to do so, create a restore point.
    1. Uninstall Groove Agent SE (make sure the .dll file is gone as well);
    2. Go to: C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Steinber;
    3. Locate the following;
      1. Groove Agent SE;
      2. Groove Agent Common; and
      3. Groove Agent SE_64.
    4. Delete them;
    5. Run the Cubase 9.5 Installer;
    6. Reinstall Groove Agent SE; and
    7. Download and install the latest update of groove agent SE.
