Yeah, seems great - lots of rly super handy lil additions, snapshots for mixer, stack sidechain etcs. Even just the visual improvements (big icon snapshots!) are freaking handy af! I was waiting for stuff like multitrack freewarp / variaudio et al, I hope (think?) that's added nao. (Just amazed me when I realised you couldn't already do that!) Anyway, Ima already sold tbh.

 

Makes Studio One look like a DAW for pre-school kidz...

I have a question If you look at this video at the editor in the video asio usage at time 3:14 and even before you see that there is a slight usages even when nothing is playing. How many people using cubase any version are getting this. i am with version 6,7, and 8.

 

Thats perfectly normal, unless your using vst 3 plugins only all plugins consume a small amount of process use even when not in use as does the Cubase engine and the meter is an ASIO meter not exatly a processor performace meter but more an indication of ASIO performance of your PC.

I'm using demo version of Pro atm. I just hope it lasts forev =) cos I don't have any licenses for it installed! I just dl & it ran... (I'm guessing in 30 days I'll have to upgrade, but still!) Guess you didn't need to buy it. Well, not yet!

Oh yeah, tis ~760Mb (program) the rest (24G) is just samples...

Anyway, if you have the last (maintenence) update of 9.5, I'd recd just installing & running 10, just to see wtf happens! =) really super strange that you don't seem to need even a trial license!

That's not expensive for any professional DAW. Check out ProTools upgrades.

Their support both for the product and for the elicenser beats iLok and ProTools hands down.

 

Just upgraded! This new blackish theme suits my dark heart.. eheh.. A first some stuff feel strange in the gui.. but all settled pretty quickly.. Nice new features like the mixer VA3, drag and drop, mixer snapshots.. If i was indecise before about mixing now i will probably go nuts with 10 different mixes at a time!

 

Good call why did I not think of that, ah well the wife can get me a copy of BYOME instead

Sadly you can't try the Element version of Cubase 10... hope they change it soon.

 

I think that if you have a Steinberg USB key, you can just dl and try Pro / Artist for.. 30 days ima guessing? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know it doesn't run w/ just SeL. But I don't have a demo license or w/e...

 

If anyone wants to go legit on Cubase or other Steiny stuff, look for EDU on eBay. Obviously, from a rep'd seller.

This was last year, but I got Cubase 9, GA4 and Halion 6 for a greatly reduced price. YMMV, but no ID etc was asked.

Kinda offsets this wallet rape from these upgrades.
