Hi guys, just a heads-up that Cubase has been updated to 10.5, available now. The Upgrade from 10 costs £51 / $60 / €60. A stripped-down version (or a dressed-up version) depending on your expectations is available at the sister site nao. Well done mono, Team V.R & Zaka1!

If you want to upgrade, I'd advise dowloading the latest eLcc rather than trying to update the database from eLcc, cos that seems too busy atm (demand I guess?).

Another heads-up thingy - if you install over C10 - you might need to extract the "additional content" folder from the exe (with winrar) if you got a lot of junctions / have installed Cubase on another drive; 'cos it doesn't like it, seems to fail every time. W10.

Also, before you upgrade, check out what your preferences are called and what they do. Cos you'll likely panic. If you plan on installing over C10, have groove quantise presets & want to keep them, backup the RAMPresets.xml file in your install folder. Cos there's no other version stored anywhere! Most preset .xml files will still be located in \Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg under the version you updated from.

Grace period update (for 9.5 but likely applies to 10+) info here. Check eligibility here.

edit: After using for a while, I found out that the control room is switched off (!) by default, for some reason. This will cause the "Softube / Kush" bug to return.

For me, the most important things it brings is that thing Ableton does (?) where it's always recording (retrospective midi record) and the import tracks from project thing - which lets you import mixer settings from projects. If it works? (it will prolly work in time for Cubase 11 =)

Already sorted! :) Had my discounted Cubase 9.5 to 10 upgrade from the summer waiting for this day. Applied update to eLicenser and has nicely upgraded me to 10.5 for free. Result!

The upgrades are not worth it for me, unfortunately. It would have been great if they had just updated it to 10.1.
The match EQ and delay things are available in other plugins. And the video export can be done in my video editor (as usual).

I would totally understand if they were charging for upgrading from 10 to say, 11 but I don't get why this 10->10.5 update is not free.

Wasn't it $50 last time? That's kind of annoying.

Honestly the only feature in 10.5 that really appeals to me is the colorized mixer channels. Everything else I probably won't use or already get from other plugins. I think I'll probably buy this, then hold off on registering until the grace period to 11

I think it was half price, so I guess they gotta recoup that 30 year discount $ somehow, @Cav Emp. Who'da thought we'd both live up to our usernames, you being an aware buyer, and me being far too easy =(

Studio One has had coloured mixer channels and combined select tools for ages. I'm wondering if there is any real meat in here to justify a paid upgrade.

As far as I recall, i think the .5 upgrade are normally about £40-50 in UK, with whole version upgrades being £80-90, so kinda fair pricing I guess.

I think this update is fairly lightweight on the face of it, albeit with some great inclusions such as the new multitap delay, the dual EQ matching thing, colorised tracks, the new dual range/select cursor and Padshop 2. However, beta testing forums all suggest the update is rock solid stable, as do early reviews of it, so I think Steinberg may have taken a step back from flashy updates to focus on reliability and stability, which personally I think makes the update worthwhile for the couple of decent feature upgrades as well as more stability.

How do you find the gui? I find it weird. The scaling also, looks uncomfortable to look at. Im on win7 and dont intend to upgrade os so i will upgrade but continue to use 9.5 for now, i dont really miss anything there.
