Yeah this "watermarking" issue is the audio equivalent of the boogeyman and isn't a real thing you should worry about. Make the best music you can, and if you used warez to make it, the majority of people wont give a shit because i'd wager an incredible amount of music we listen to on a day to day basis across all genres was made via warez.

Audio watermarking lawsuit would be a scientific AND public mess to prove anything.
    That's why it never happened.

A phone call to a big studio using warez is more effective than spending several years to get some bucks from a broke musician

I hope this doesn't turn into that 2004 VHS tape piracy advert you'd have to get up to fast forward because your TV and VHS tape player were either saved fromma gabbage or stolen so you'd have no remote, then you'd have to gabba hop your heavy ass up offa couch to fast forward over before every movie.

    "You wouldn't steal a car..."

Bitch'm, I would steal a fucking bus with a library tied to the back of it's trailer park if I could.

You don't know me lit'l clitt'y bitty. I three-finger scoop cream cheese out of it's container at the superparket then put it back on the shelf because that stuff's just too damn expensive but it tastes fuckin' fantastic.

When you get the cream cheese that looks like it had whole diccballs smeared into it with a middle finger pube sticcn outta it like a lonely Gorillaz plastic palm tree.... It was mines, but now... it's ous. Communism be like that bae. All for one and one for all, bebe. Brains is fractal dickbutting at this point?

are we talking illegal musical content, or illegal chemical content.
cause some days, i feel i would surely download a car if I could. though with my internet connection it would be a vintage vehicle by the time the final bits downloaded.

Hm, maybe it's time to define a genre called "illegal [generic genre name]" ... sounds like the normal genre, but has an illegal twist. Grab your field recorder and record yourself, while steal chewing gum from your local store, mangle it through your fx arsenal et voilá: Illegal Dub Techno!

"Yeah and in this track i put the video footage from the hidden cam in your bathroom as transients for this snare drum ... just view the track in a spectral analyzer and you see a slide show of yourself scratching your ass and smell your fingers. Guess who did not wash his hands?"

I buyed OS and DAW/NLE and I use every open/free alternatives - that are often even better (both in security and performances) than commercial counterparts - I can.

However, since no one - still? - pays for the online contents I create, I can't afford to buy some of the (few, about 6) audio processing plugins I need.

    >>> Anyway, it's morally unacceptable to use pirated software for profit IMHO. <<<

Here's why I also launched - and maintain - the HyMPS project, which aims to provide a complete platform-indipendent open source suite for audiovisual productions.

I'm gonna start a label, call it Van Meegeren Records and insist that all content by all artists use only pirated material. The only caveat is that nothing can be monitized. It'll be HUGE!

A lot of plugins are not ridiculous in price these days. I reckon if you use something all of the time, you may as well own it. Removes that issue altogether.

As for being in trouble, there are occasionally studios who have been busted with computers full of illegal software but that is incredibly rare, one in a hundred thousand perhaps. Sure, they mostly got fined, but if you are talking about your own songs, you'd be a very unlucky SOB to get done when so many in the world do not. Again, if you are using something all of the time and it's under $100, buy the fircking thing.

The samples are what can get you in trouble. Most jungle/commercial companies want original content, and you may be required to sign documents declaring this and accepting responsibility for violations of copyright. And one bad experienced can get you blackballed across an entire network of publishing houses. So, if you want to be in the commercial space, forget about sample packs and learn to create original melodies.

Regarding VSTs, no one is going to (or has the right to) know what VSTs you used. I encourage you to give back to the developers as you start to earn the means to purchase.

That's completely incorrect—sample packs are used in nearly every commercial track out there.
Go check out some mixing tutorials they're packed with Splice and Cymatics sample packs.

Hmm thats odd, I can go through tons of my old Jungle and DnB records from the 90s/early 2000s and pick out samples straight from Jungle Warfare, the Datafiles, Jungle Frenzy, That Jungle Flavour, etc.. What do you know, I can go pull out some fairly recent Tim Reaper/Future Retro records, those dudes are still rinsing the Datafiles 30 something years later heh. Not to mention all the straight up acapella and chorus rips from old reggae/dub records..
