Creating m4l patches with Ableton from sister site - Error

    Hi all, I'm trying to create my own Max for Live patches. I used Max to create the code, then as I open Ableton Live, any time i try to edit an effect the Max button is greyed out. If i try the built in Max, it simply tells me my trial mode is not started yet.

    Any way to work around this with sister site versions?
    Help much appreciated, I'd love to start working with max 4 live.
