Creating depth in a mix using realistic room reverbs (best plugins/methods?)

    I was referring to what seems to be the kind of effect that was being talked about in this thread. ELO (JeffL) was doing it back in the 70's and 80's. Dunno exactly what it was he did to their tracks but it was unique. Whatever it was had to done at the final/mastering stage of production because more often it seemed to encase the entire mix. It sounded like a short delay but it was reverb like as well. It even translated across to AM radio. He used it on all ELO, his own tracks, and the wilbury's... More like a signature than anything else...

    Correct. I wasn't sure what you meant by shorter pre-delay and higher pre-delay amount. That is somewhat contradictory. :bleh:
    I'll add a quick graphic to your explanation to make things a little clearer:

    Now, can't this be solved in two ways? 1) A BUS with a reverb, and then send from each track. The more send quantity, the greater the sensation that the instrument is far away, and the less send, the closer? 2) Or the same reverb on each track and play with Dry/Wet?
