to my knowledge, yes it's possible in aforementioned Reaper for example, as it utilizes some sort of own internal bridging, to run legacy plugins on native M1 Reaper build - but results are mostly worse than running Rosetta2 version of Reaper,
many plugins like Melodyne, HOFA and others crash when run via Reaper's bridging on M1, that's a sad fact

ahh i see, I have only tried native Logic and Bitwig. No issues at all there, but my 3rd plugin collection is very very tiny

Plug-ins are a bit trickier to force to Rosetta than apps, but it can be done. The idea is to strip the ARM code out of the executable. The basic Terminal command is: lipo -remove arm64 "executable_path" -output "executable_path"
With plug-ins, I''ve sometimes had permission issues where it wouldn't work even with sudo. In those cases, I've moved the executable out of the package, stripped the ARM code, then moved it back and code-signed. If you can do it in place, then re-signing isn't necessary.

If I’ll get an M1 MacBook it’s inevitable that I’ll have to run Cubase 10.5 and plugins under Rosetta.
And obviously under Rosetta the performance is much worse than natively.
So now I’m deciding maybe it’s better just to buy the latest (soon to be absolute) Intel MacBook ?

is even Cubase 10.5 supported on Big Sur? whatever Mac you buy right now is shipped with Big Sur and you can't downgrade it...

I very much agree with what's being said here. M1 is wicked fast and I'm running quite a lot of plugins already.

I do however miss my Goodhertz a lot. Anybody have a suggestion on where to find the Goodhertz plugins? I think I remember getting the bundle from sister site a while back on my Win and would love to have it again for Mac (my M1). I used them all the time and miss them a lot. If anybody has an idea, would be amazing if you could let me know!

Has anyone managed to make Analog Lab 5.4.0 SPTNDC work in Big Sur?

Despite running Batchmod on the entire .component/vst/vs3 + arturia folder vst/vst3, as well as running sudo codesign --force --deep --sign -, and deleting db.db3 in Arturia/Presets too, it's not working as it should:

Ok my bad: this fixes it.

    terminal
    sudo xattr -cr /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Analog\ Lab\ V.component

    open logic/ableton

    done

Well, that's not true for a start.
And that may be the wrong way round to look at it!
There is still a point in getting Intel if you want cracks.

I have fabfilter working Logic in m1 mode but it does not work in Rosetta mode.
Any clues as I have waves only working in Rosseta mode so Cant use them together in same project

Ah yes, the Production Gods have finally smiled down upon you and made your Waves not work. 10 gig space you can reclaim on your SSD.
Delete them permanently and use Fabfilter and maybe now even Sonible. And some Acon Digital if you need to fix clicks and things. Problem solved.
