    short story:

collect samples/batch compress a random library. i tested it with shevannai voice of the elves.

import one of its wav files into your daw. i took a spoken phrase.

play the same sample through the library in cracked kontakt (tested with auditor 5.73). it will sound different and files will also not null if you invert phase - no matter what you do. somehow it seems cracked kontakt will not playback the whole frequency range, while ofcourse a pure .wav file does.

i also tested with albion one and same stuff.

oh, and while we are at it. if you use valhalla room for example. try the demo and take a listen if it sounds different. it does...

i always had the feeling that cracked stuff sounds different (yeah i know this has been discussed), and it is like that.

i tested this in legit cubase 9.5, studio one 3 artist (legit) and reaper. same result for all.

id be happy if someone could check this aswell. i dont think i did anything wrong, but who knows ;)

Are you seriously comparing a raw wave with the same kontakt-processed wave ?

processed kontakt wave? lol, sorry. kontakt doesnt process any wav by default.

maybe you guys should make a test before laughing. i knew i would get some funny comments, but after all testing iam 100% certain that the legit kontakt sounds different. wavs played by legit and cracked wont NULL!

Just tried Legit Alicias Keys against one in a cracked Kontakt on another machine and after inverting one of the phases they both cancelled out perfectly.

This is like saying legit Microsoft Word prints better than cracked Microsoft Word it's just ludicrous to think audio quality, or any quality for that matter, can be affected by stripping applications of their copy protections.

you should know that all cracked software sounds bad. they also put hidden messages in them, that drive you crazy. you'll get used to it.

Are you completely mad bro ? If so, just tell me, I'd hate to behave as an ableist you know.
The aim of a sampler is literally to PROCESS audio material to make SAMPLES. That's why they're called SAMPLERS.
Any given sample of a kontakt library is "by default" heavily processed according to midi input data, host bpm and then signal processing begins as desired by the maker of the library. In case of a voice library, they rank among the most scripted so even a simple C4 at velocity 100 @120bpm could be time-processed, sliced, eqed, compressed, FFTed, excited, limited, delayed, faded-in and out, panned and/or layered with slightly repitched samples, all this with a possible random factor to avoid machinegun effect...
Why do I even have to explain this shit ? I can't even...

Just in case you weren't kidding, I will :

Yeah just go watch a youtube video from a guy who recorded a synth through his own interface and then mixed it with his voice on top, masterized the whole thing, exported a 4MBps MP4, re-encoded by youtube, and compare it with native output from your DAW.
WTF IT DOES'NT SOUND THE SAME !

This DOES sound incredibly ridiculous but since I haven't actually TESTED it, I'll restrain myself from laughter and snarky comments. But to be clear, you are saying that if I open up and play, let's say The Giant(a piano) by N.I., on a legit version AND a cracked version of, let's say version 5.7.1 of Kontakt, they will sound DIFFERENT?

@vibetribe He came to that conclusion by comparing a raw WAV from a vocal oriented lib to an actual kontakt VI library output...

whene testing kontakt libraries that have round robins, be sure to play same samples! if you play same library on 2 legit kontakts, they might not sound indentical due to round robins. my 2 cents...

wut? are you crazy, i own massive legit and also installed the not legit version, because well sometimes have no internet at home sucks.
    i noticed no difference.
only thing both massives do, they fuck up their DBs and scan 100 years for presets.

if that's true, you got lucky. because, as n0xin pointed out, the round robins should keep that from happening most of the time.

    1. most cracked kontakt users probably do not have a legit copy to test this.
    2. if your using an illegal copy and don't have any problems with the sound quality, why bother?

That beeing said, i'd like to know. To feed my own curiosity. :like:

you dont need a legit kontakt to test this.

extract the wav files from a library with an unlocked kontakt version (i took 5.73 auditor).

i made the test with a vocal library because it doesnt have round robins.

whatever, import the extracted wav into your daw and also playback the same file within kontakt. if you got good monitors or headphones and a decent audio interface you will hear the result instantly. it might be not much, but you will notice.

the wav file will be much clearer, but i guess you should do a null test and see yourself.

iam doing this stuff for years and always had the feeling cracked stuff doesnt sound the same, and actually its true.

also try valhalla verb demo vs cracked one. or studio one vs studio one v3 demo... there are differences. if you dont wanna hear this and dont care, ok.
