@No Avenger what someone need to tell @ryck is that he was wrong. What @The Pirate told him about the Berne Convention is correct. The one that should quit is @The Pirate. He doesnt need to be here helping others that dont appreciate it at all or drama queens that get easily offended when they are proven wrong.

i understand the theoretical interest but at the same time i cant deny the obvious existing elephant in the room, the problem for 90% of so called "musicians" and "producers" around is not being able to produce a simple decent chord progression, and forget about melodies, most struggle with making the most simple nursery rhyme "melody", four bar loops etc in-spite of all software and hardware

it definitely feels like "copyright issues" are like the most remote and least of their problems...

I didn't read through this paper, so I can't make a qualified statement, but normally our Pirate is right.

I guess most of us just didn't know exactly what was the right answer. Like @No Avenger said @The Pirate usually knows his stuff.
Seems ryck was too sensitive to handle some things.

I guess the grey areas are why it costs so much to try these cases, and with unpredictable outcomes :dunno:

You nailed it. @ryck was saying that he was told that there would not be any protection if he registered a son in the USA. The @The Pirate called him out on that. As the @The Pirate said, what @ryck said makes zero sense. Im mot a lawyer and know little about the law but if that was the case everyone would be stealing every song registered with the US Copyright Office. After being called out, @ryck is the one who started offending @The Pirate. As @Xupito said, @ryck was too sensitive to handle some things. I will add that @ryck was too stubborn to admit that he was wrong. We all are here to learn. It is idiotic to let our ego get in the way. It is worst to act like a drama queen, get the moderator involved saying that you are going to quit, and actually delete your account. @Olymoon handled it beautifuly. @The Pirate did nothing wrong. All he did was correct what @ryck was saying. When someone like @The Pirate says something, I will say that 99..99% of the time he is right and will back it up. Peace 2 u all.

That's a good resume. That being said, ryck's stubbornness sometimes led to interesting debates. That was the bright side and I hope he polish the bad ones.
I get along with @The Pirate although we have our differences in some opinions. But when it comes to facts he knows his shit.

As opposed to, say, that fluffy old fartiger @No Avenger

A while back was reading elsewhere in this forum that himan input is a requirement. I dont know whether that is true or not. Dont we have lawyers among our members that can explain it to us?

Some morons spend more time protecting their crappy music than enjoying to make music. What a pity.
They have the passion of money, not the passion of music.

It took me some time to come up with this question, but if they created all possible melodies, will no one be able to write copyright protected music (for that amount of notes and within that range) in the future anymore?

Every melody means every freaking melody.

    Just for the geeks
Brute Force against a hypothetical AES 8/12 is simple (8/12 ton systems )
Brute Force against a hypothetical AES 20000 is stupidly hard (HZ range of most DAW´s)

Sadly the article is only German but fun to read with a 665-Ton-System

Am I wrong? They did it beforehand, so no "music industry" corporate empties that are following copyright protection algorithms, on same principal of "everything is someone's intellectual property", for provision can legitimately, seriously fuck ones career, life... by suing him/her ('til death.. professional and/or real) for "copyrighted material/property" infringement, plagiarism....?
