Hi, I just came across this beautiful synth software called 'Synaptic Probe'. I want to create some lush ambient sounds using this synth and use it in my project. But I couldn't find a way to load this in my DAW. I don't know if it's possible to convert this into a VST instrument. Is there any way I could use this to record in my DAW?

This is all I could find about this synth on the internet.

I would really appreciate any help.

I fear, this will not be possible to convert it to a VSTi. But you can use "Virtual Audio Cable" to integrate it to your DAW.
You can find the retail version of it at sisters site!

On what kind of system you wanna use it? Have you tried it so far? I just tested it...it generally works on WIN10 but I got a lot of crackles and glitches no matter what preset I load.

EDIT...OK, I see you have to adjust a few settings like DirectX drivers, buffer size, latency, polyphony etc. and it will work.

get source code in C++, rewrite in JUCE. But this is a very long time consuming process. (unless you have the source, if not, then there is no chance to create a VST/AU/linux version)

The code is probably not very optimized, that why you get crackles?

The synth looks very basic, i guess you could find something, which sounds very close.

Well VST 1.x was introduced in 1996 by Steinberg, wonder why they havnt wrote a VST? VST2 was introduced in 1999.

Maybe because VST wasnt used widely around the time the synth was coded?

Not very subtle BUT effective :
    Virtual Audio
    Virtual MIDI

With VA, you get sound from synth into your DAW
With VM, you send MIDI notes to the synth

    https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/virtualmidi.html
    https://vb-audio.com/Cable/

Create a track in your DAW with Virtual Audio as input from your synth AND Virtual MIDI as output to your synth

    meh too "no chances "

There is small chance you can use a decompiler on it .

    On everything else totally agree

Let me put it another way. When you use a decompiler, the result is very bad, you would need to clean the code you get (since the process you have done is not bijective: compiling <-/-> decompiling) and well rewriting in Juce also takes very long.
You are probably better of to write something similar from scratch.

maybe got bought or hired somewhere or went back to making music. :)

i was always wondering back in the days why cellsynth by living memory never made it into an VST instrument. similar tool as the one discussed here, but mac only.

you're not going to like this, or may you will, but since you can see all the parameters right there on the GUI of your synth there, it's not hard at all to dial those in with Vital. Vital has exactly the same number of oscillators and filters.

don't mess around with that old synth, and you don't need to learn everything about vital, just look at your favorite preset of the obsolete synth, and dial those settings in the best you can in vital.
