    That's just "no quantizing" on full display. I remembered how quickly I used to work with tape and that's how I wrapped this up in two hours. If it was for a client or even a commercial release it would be a very different sound, but I left all the faults in.....and yep, that sax note is wild.

    Thanks for all who have helped me feel less foolish for posting this. I should have a thicker skin after doing this for 40 years, but it actually works the opposite way. Brittle bones and brain.
    This marks the end of this style of music for me as this was the last in the trilogy. If you missed the others and aren't of the opinion I am a complete failure:

    Many thanks to my friends here.

    You don't owe anyone in this forum an apology but I respect you for saying that. What is the big fucking deal whether is house, or lounge or downtempo or any other of 4 dozens similar styles out there? What really matters here is that you were kind enough to share your music with us. I liked the song. Better yet, I love it! Don't feel discourage if anyone doesn't like your music. You can't please everyone. Nobody can. @recycle was simply being honest without beating around the bush. That is what you want to hear from your audience. An honest evaluation of your creation. Keep on making them like that, and will continue to listen to them. :like:

    Yet there are genre nazis out there. Just yesterday some guy was torn apart for describing his music as progressive house. Before anybody even mentioned the tracks merits as a composition, he was informed by quite a few people his track was most definitely not progressive house. I felt quite sympathetic towards him. I think he's in Spain. Does it cost much to send flowers from Australia to Spain?

    When you expose yourself with an aristic product you have to be ready for negative criticism. I'll tell you more: never ever listen to false adulations, healthy negative criticism is the only one to pay attention to, it's extremely useful to improve the artistic output, actually It is the only way to focus your weaknesses so to improve.

    notsoloud: artists are the gift of God on earth, and for this reason I love you

    TL;DR all;
    No matter how you look at it this doesn't add anything besides perhaps personal grudges/envy/blow off pissed off steam. You can do a very negative but constructive criticism.

    I know. I have been there myself. On one of my threads I was mocked because I stated that Drum and Bass was a genre of Electronic Dance music. Many times those discussions are senseless and leave the artist and other members frustrated and/or confused. As I said, the genre is unimportant. The gesture of sharing is what really matters.:bow:
    BTW, I would love to remix your song.

    As I explained to @notsoloud, I think you gave him an honest answer which is what everyone should do. I only quote you to observe that criticism should always be accompanied with an explanation otherwise it can be seen as destructive criticism. Simply saying that it was a bad attempt to making a house track does not help @notsoloud. Those of us, creative souls, only benefit from constructive criticism because it allow us to learn and grow by offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about our work.

  9. I love your work and method.:bow::mates:

    But when I want to make pieces, fast thinking does not work for me. I have a very puristic view to music and notes-selection makes me despondent every time. :winker:

    Every moment of making music is fun except the notes-selection step and this is the reason why most people are not very interested in it and it's the main reason for the decline of the music these days. IMHO, music is all about the notes and skipping it and relying on other things is unacceptable.:bow::mates:

    I think criticism is only healthy when it's constructive, not just negative.

    Constructive or distructive criticism: it is a discussed topic over the years in art topics.

    You can't extract value from criticism if you don't hear it correctly or don't understand what's actually being said. When you're being criticized, ignore the voice in your mind that's leaping to conclusions about what the criticism means. Instead, listen carefully for nuances. Repeat what you've heard and ask for details. Make sure you understand exactly what's being said.
    The more clearly you understand, the easier it will be to assess the criticism and know how to take appropriate action.
    Now don't play the victim: the object of my criticism is your work and not yourself. Do you need a more detailed information on my point of view? ok just ask.
    If instead you think that I simply enjoy putting other people down… well the dialog is over

    Educate you? no way! What I’m trying to comunicate is the way I feel when I listen to a song, beeing the more sincere as possible.

    My critics for "Short Piano Peace":
    I cant tell you where is the problem I can only tell how your song makes me feel: It is a midifile piano straight in 150bpm: totally mechanical and without expression: hundreds of notes pushed in my ears that ends to gave me an headache

    Thats how I feel
