Please, give this song a listen and let me know what you think production-wise. I didn't write it. I just helped produce it. I feel pretty satisfied with the overall balance, and I'd love to see if anything sounds off to you. I need a down-to-earth view on how my mixing is doing.

The only tracks I recorded were the singer's vocals and her strummed guitar. The arpeggio guitar, strings, piano, harp, and solo guitar come from Band In A Box Realtracks, and the cajon is a sample I recorded a few years ago that was tweaked to serve the song. There's also a tambourine loop that I had somewhere.

I hope you can give me some insight here. BTW, any comments about the composition per se (melody and chord changes) won't help me much since I had nothing to do there.

Thanks a lot for your support.

    Peace.

Good stuff so far, I think it sounds really good. I did get a little lost due to the timing but I like it.

I'd push the guitar back a little particularly in the beginning.
And I reckon the vocals are struggling to poke through a bit. maybe spread your other tracks a little to give her more room in the middle.

Thanks for your kind reply. If it sounds good to you overall, then I can feel more confident with my mixing environment. The dodgy timing is all my fault in trying to match 4/4 feel of The Band In A Box tracks against the 6/4 feel of the song. I'll work on tightening the timing. However, I feel that this being a folksy song, I woudn't want it to be surgically tight. A sense of looseness is characteristic of the style, or am I wrong about it?

As for the stereo spread, I totally agree. I'm always shy on panning because I feel strongly about mono compatibility. I'll revise it.

    Thank you for coming along.

    All the best to you.
