Sweet tunes liking the vibes, like in my own productions cant really feel any "bass" (on a laptop) which would add another dimension to the tune. Have been listening to stuff like noisia 'machinegun' and have become really intrested in how they eq/mix to get that bass (or psuedo bass) that you can feel through even cruddy laptop speakers with a 200hz cut-off, in fact if you put a cut-off on one of their tunes (at 200hz) the tune still sounds phat!

It would be really nice if it wasn't so flat sounding. No dynamics at all. How can you do this to your hard work? From the beginning to the end it's the same loudness. Have you ever heard Jean Michelle Jarre "Oxygen", for example? Now that's what I call pleasant to hear. This is just too unnatural to listen to. Great themes and sounds, though. That's why I even bothered to post in the first place... ;) Take it easy on the limiter. By A LOT. You probably don't need a limiter on the master buss at all, just to catch occasional peaks.

You know that the CD is becoming extinct and that the loudness war is over, don't you? ;) Do yourself a favour and make it sound the best, not the loudest. This is ambient music FFS, give it some life!

It's something I would really like to listen to at leisure time, but not so lifeless. I suppose "the mastering" was slapping a limiter on the master buss and setting the threshold to -10dB... well, I do mastering and I can tell you that making it loud is just 10% of all the work.

    Cheers!
