Your question mirrors a question I asked AI a few nights ago. I realised that this was proof of my autism. I can't hear chords and I write endless melodies that weave around each other, but I generally don't listen to them in tracks and I have no idea what the right ones are for my music. Even if its the correct 1, 3, 5, etc it sounds wrong, like its clashing or removing some emotion or something. Its probably making the tracks complete and I've got so used to the lack of chords that being right sounds wrong, but there's definitely something wrong in my brain where I can't focus on or hear chords. For me that's definitely autism... We did a quick diagnosis at the suggestion of AI and its pretty definitive. I've no idea how that relates to you but it might be worth looking into. It might help with some answers.

I've been listening to a lot of songs and their chords this week, trying to understand them and I still just don't get it. https://www.hooktheory.com/ if you want to do the same yourself. I don't know how I've spent so many years not hearing chords at all. I know they're there and somehow I feel emotions, but I can't identify them. So I struggle translating my vocals into those emotions with the best chords to match.

I have ADHD as well and my mind is jumping all over the place trying to figure these things out.

I've been considering something like rebuilding a track in piano, then expanding it out somehow, carrying the notes over into chords, but I'm struggling to figure that out properly... I'm pretty much on the same page as you, what you're trying to figure out, how to take those melodies and get the best chord balance. My instinct is usually to make the chords jump all over the place and follow the notes, rather than to keep them static for two bars or so and then change... I think I just don't have enough instinct to put that final piece into the puzzle. Its just a skill that I don't have. So I'm on the same page in needing something that, apparently, is piss easy for most people... Its not an insult btw, I have skills that other people can only dream of. It comes with the autism etc and struggles in life. Its all material, fuel.

A couple of the suggestions look good to try, Scaler and Captain Chords. I had a go with Scaler before and watching this dude he's just being anal with all these options. It gets pretentious at some stage, where its more about showing off than enhancing a track or just balancing it. It reminded me how I struggled using Scaler. The solution needs to be simple for me. Just working is enough, because my focus is Hooklines and Vocals really. It sounds like you might be after something similar.

Edit: This isn't a solution by any means, but I found this tutorial really helpful. I need to watch it a few more times

Check the music section of this forum. I have been looking for feedback. But alas, I am closing this thread. Not a safe space by any means.
