I have a few of the Cherry Audio synths. They aren't too bad, but there tend to be better options out there, like Auturia's synths... but this is interesting anyways. I love the CS-80, so another tool in the toolbox would interest me. I'll at least check out the demo.

The CS80 V is one of Arturia's better synths, we'll see how Cherry does. A full on GX-1 emulation would be fun.

 

Ya, I really like the CS80 V too.. I use that one the most, of all the V Collection. So far though, it looks like this GX-80 is getting a lot of positive buzz from people, so I will have to try it and see what the hype is about!

 

Early impressions are quite good, I have to say. Might be very good competition for the CS-80 V, possibly better. I'm just rolling through presets though right now. One day I'll learn how to actually do sound design in this beast, but that feels like a large undertaking lol

It's a pricey one (for Cherry Audio), but it's definitely their best VSTi that I've tried. I haven't played much with Sines or Elka though, and haven't touched the modular synth. But at first glance, it is more impressive than the other flagship synths, IMO.

Definitely be sure to use a device with aftertouch for some extra fun!

 

I think that Cherry Audio devs did a really good job.
BTW: Never had any problems with any Cherry Audio plugin (unlike say IK Multimedia and Waves).

 

Is it just me, or do the preset buttons sound absolutely nothing like a CS-80... ?

G-Force's video goes through the presets in isolation. I thought it'd be a good way to compare but Cherry's sounds dreadful by comparison.

Anyway, Cherry Audio's pricing now hitting $59 means it's hard to forgive inaccuracy... Plogue OPS7 is a truly bit accurate DX7 emulation and it's about the same price...

Oh cool, thanks for the news on this. I had no idea they even had an CS-80 in the works all this year but I'm glad it's not priced to much. I'm one of those people that will never say no to any CS80 emulation, no matter how many we get and Ive even used old free ones and liked those too.
