While most developers are trying to convince us that AI is your friend and, that their AI do-dad is the greatest since sliced bread, Celemony has been quietly working on an approach to music creation assistance that actually works. Not just kind of works but, works well.

A bummer that it is currently subscription based at $14.95 for Arranger & $24.95 per month for Studio. To get all the features in the demonstrations you will need the Studio version. Thos of us interested should pepper Celemony with requests for perpetual licensing (yes?).

I strongly dislike subscriptions, but in this case it kinda makes sense if it means that musicians are being compensated fairly and regularly

It looks like they heavily copied from Toontrack.

I think I'll just stick with (Cubase or Studio One) + Melodyne until Reaper gets a dedicated Chord Track.

The compensation rate would be the same for any royalty payments in a normal situation for sure. Unless of course the musician/creator agreed to compensation based on (as an example):
    • session payment plus percentage of sales/subscriptions
    • percentage of sales/subscriptions only
If they were payed out-right for the session work than no further compensation would be expected.

For me it is just easier to own a product rather than rent & having to keep track renewal/expiry dates. And just to be clear, I am thinking about a real perpetual license that works for a given version range of the software product.

Sure. I'm trying to be optimistic the subscription will provide the funding for future sessions with other musicians, etc. That's what I'm imagining, cuz it would make sense. Otherwise, subscription would be a rather annoying model.

Online streaming, Digital Audio Workstation, VST Plugin , AI online , Grafik , Prime, Gaming etc etc subscriptions... :excl::woot:
sub sub subs more subs...... meh.... some people must have to pay 200-300-400€ per month for subs....

This world has turned into the Dimension of Subscriptions....

Honestly i am sick and tired of this "Subscription Shit", currently removing most sub´s out of my life...

Tonalic is is an AI software that better than other algorithms enables both musicians and non-musicians to hand over actual creation of instrumental parts to a Melodyn product, and when solely used in a song when given a sequence of chords can write it in it's entirety for you with the feel and texture of another person or persons paid to lend their expertise and years of dedication in mastering their instrument so you don't have to either work at it yourself or find other people to play with that have...kinda!

Wonder how versatile it is style wise... I mean can you get a funky disco guitar and bass for example to a disco track. I guess they might make so that you need to pay for extra credits to get some new content to your tracks, bit like Splice etc. Maybe even hire one of their musicians to play kinda. At least Celemony is trying something kinda new, hats off to them for that. Plug-in landscape is very crowded, at least it's not another compressor.

Honestly in this case it is logical. You wouldn't make the whole Splice service a one-time purchase, it's the same thing here.

They also said that the plugin works offline with the content that has already been downloaded so that's a good compromise.

There's so many different ways one can play guitar chords in different styles (like disco, funk etc), they can't have possibly sampled every permutation, obviously they use Melodyne's algorithms to make the chords fit your track but I just wonder how well it will work in practice and how good it will sound? I have used Melodyne extensively and while it is really good and almost magical it definitely can sound artificial and have artifacts. I think bass guitar is probably easier and will sound more natural easier. Dunno. Toontrack has similar approach but it is based on multi sampled instrument and then midi patterns. This is based on audio loops which might sound better in theory but there's just so many variables that how good it will sound in practice?

This just looks like the evolution of Ueberschall ‘Liquid Instruments’ and the Elastik player from 20 years ago.
They were also powered by Melodyne I believe.

I'm just see some clips.. verrry promising software.. but... This software makes our wishes for EZ guitar now obsolete.. BUT, than again, haveing EZ guitar in such forms with MIDI maybe is better solution.. I think... I don' know...

On side that according to specs, full library is ~20GB I'm little confused... what to wish and think.
