They like using it for guitars but I use it on plucks, leads and mid to hi melodic material.
I have just compared the two btw(arturia and softube), and while they sound pretty close in null testing, they are not exactly the same, also the arturia lacks the saturation knob. The softube hypes the highs a little more in a good way (which is what I look from a trident); while the arturia gives a more rounded sound(which makes the sound more pleasant per se). But it depends on what you want from them, since warmth is not what I look for in a trident, then I prefer the softube, but Arturia is definitely good too. Also the latency in softube is like 0.083 ms while Arturia is 0.62 ms as reported in Ableton while running in parallel. The Arturia meters are something softube is missing, and I see myself using Arturia instead of two softube instances for stereo material and m/s wizardry. Both are good.

I would really like to find that CDS vst tho, for testing purposes, they did good stuff and it is worth checking out.
    cheers!

would you say the arturia is closest to the real model or you just like how it processes the sound?
what kind of material do you like to use with it?
    cheers!

    Yeah, this is it.
Which of the 13 consoles have you used before, then?

Ah, okay. Well I haven't A/B'd them in situ with the real thing, so I only have the tracks I've produced with Malcolm's model to compare the plugins to!
I've done whole tracks through the real thing, so I've never ventured into just using it on guitars etc.
But I'd say, re. the plugins, drums and guitars sound great, and I use the plugins on the 2bus too.
You're right about the difference between the Softube and the Arturia; both sound very different.
I just was initially disappointed when I got the Softube version, after having used the real thing. That's all I can say really. Anything else would be retrospectively guessing at this point in time!

well I think you have a better experience with Trident than I, working next to him is awesome.
At first I did not understand why people used Trident, with all the intentional phase issues, but while staging the sounds on a bass music environment, I found a good use for it with the mid material.
I think I will experiment with drums next, Arturia looks good for the job I think.
    cheers!
