Here are a few facts about Carol and a picture from her younger years.

Her mother bought her daughter a guitar for $10 in 1948. A year later, she was playing it so well that she was able to perform publicly as a semi-professional. With the proceeds, she bought a Gibson Super 400.

She began playing jazz guitar professionally in 1954, playing exclusively with a pick, and was a member of the line-up with Jack Sheldon, Billy Higgins, and, most recently, the Henry Busse Orchestra (until 1955).

Carol Kaye entered Californian pop music as a jazz guitarist and later switched to the bass guitar. She played this instrument in more than 10,000 recording sessions[8] and made the pick acceptable for bass guitars as well.

She appeared on numerous number one hits, but her name as a session musician never became known to a wider audience. She was considered a pillar of the Los Angeles studio musician community.

Wow, Ive known her and her works for many years, but until today did not realize she performed on David McCallum's "The Edge", produced by David Axelrod. Perhaps one of the most notable sample flips of all time. She also performed on all of David Axelrod's recordings, which were also sampled time and time again. Talk about influential!!

She’s also all over Quincy Jones’ soundtracks. Of course I knew about her (what a legend!), but Wiki also claims she’s one of the most recorded bassists in history with over 10,000 tracks. That’s an insane number.
