I am sorry I've never heard of her, but it sounds at least strange that a woman of 90 years old who was a great bass player already in the 60s only got an induction in 2025????

Good for her. The Whatever Hall of Whatever is a scam and a joke.

It's not much different than any of the sports "hall of fames". There is an element of a popularity contest to the whole thing, and some people get passed over or overlooked for those in more recent memory. Multiple times. Some people/groups get inducted immediately the year they become eligible, while some more "minor" acts take decades; even after they are dead. Other people care about it much more than they do.

The HoF is a for profit enterprise- which I'm completely fine with except they try to make it sound like it's some kind of national honor. So it's always going to be about pimping more popular people than recognising the truly important people. And I supposed to be fair it is called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Awesome. :dunno:

Now you have! Watch the documentary about the Wrecking Crew, it's pretty excellent.

Carol Kay was one of the major influences in the 1960's. I am glad she and others rejected the award. Steve Miller had harsh words about the RRHF. He didn't want the award. Many artists are pissed because the RRHF bowed down to the powers who be, and started putting non-Rock n Roll acts. They didn't keep it real.
There are so many award shows now to cover most every genre. It's like awarding Metallica a Country Hall of Fame slot. There was a jackass on this site some years ago, who tried to convince me all genres were Rock n Roll because it's merely an attitude. Not so....it's the FN music. A hundred years from now, no one will give a shit so screw you RRHF!

Acknowledgements and subsequent nominations, are not always timely, in fact, often, rarely when they might be deserved. But better late than never perhaps?

The band YES took 40 years to get inducted as did many other well-known bands and artists of decades earlier. YES were Contemporary Rock too, not Rock 'n Roll. The joke is that RUSH were inducted four years earlier and Geddy Lee from RUSH had said from the beginning that one of his biggest influences was Chris Squire from YES. So it is another testament of being late to the party.
As stated earlier, maybe they should just call it something like "The Music Hall of Fame". Then any style is eligible as it should be.

She, and of course The Wrecking Crew, played on sooooooooooo many songs by different well known artists. I love her playing on this.....nothing too extravagant or fancy but solid as a rock and imho her bass line makes takes the song to another level. I totally respect and agree with her stand about the RRHF !

She's a national, hell, international treasure.

She can do whatever she wants as far as I'm concerned.... as she has already done way beyond and transcended.

She’s got more balls than all the sweaty dudes presiding over the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame combined. Respect.

Well they're not going to be inducting any classical or jazz artists anytime soon, but if they went with the Popular Music Hall of Fame that would be a big enough umbrella.
By the way I also got a big kick out of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley bad-mouthing the HoF until they finally got in and they changed their tune in a hurry.
Hey speaking of Carol Kaye and Gene Simmons there was a pretty funny video of her trying to give him a bass lesson that seems to have been scrubbed from the interwebs.
    Everything is connected!

You took more time to tell us all a slightly embarrassing fact about yourself than rather simply Googling her name?

its interesting....i definitely think shes taking the "wrecking crew" name the wrong way. i dont think culturally or why shes even being inducted is because anyone thinks she was a "wrecker" of music at the time

unfortunately on a macro and micro scale, you cant really control how people see or remember you, even if parts of it annoy you. theyre still going to induct her anyway, they didnt ask for her permission, they announced their decision and invited her to the ceremony. the movie she disagrees with is still called "The Wrecking Crew", everyone who watches it or has (even by some of the posts in the thread) are going to remember the collective as that. it just seems like it is what it is at this point

i mean i think its cool name, to my knowledge other people in the collective arent insulted by the name, idk if this is the hill to die on tbh but do you i guess, cant really tell her how to feel about it. thanks for sharing, learned something new

She's a crusty old girl anyway... I imagine she had to be in the 60s to get any respect at all. I'm sure it's only gotten worse over the years.
