My credentials work just fine when logging into the Tonocracy website. But both the standalone AND VST3 return an error
message, (see attached pic). I don't really understand why Tonacracy forces users to login to a free plugin in the first place. I'm glad they removed iLok as that was an absolute non starter for me. So I was glad when they removed it. BUT I'm still unable to use this "free" plugin as it will not accept my credentials. This has been very frustrating.

Tonocracy does not require a license code to function, but it does require
the iLok License Manager software to be installed and active.

Yes, after a week trying to login, and 2 emails to Tonocracy (which where not answered) I thought this thing probably needed the iLok installed, I already went the nam 2 route with GEMONE 2 and RigSculpt so I dont care for it anymore, although it sounded really good last time I tried it.

 

You are incorrect. From Tonocracy's website:

EXACTLY. And, according to Tonacracy iLok has been removed: "Release History v2.3.1 Removed PACE license management"
I'm in the same boat tried many times on several machines no luck I also e-mailed Tonocracy support TWICE and got no response
other than them saying:

I'm not sure what your point is. Yes your initial post points to the page that states iLok is required, but in your next post you included the screen shot that states the need for Pace has been removed. And the guides you attached, which I had already downloaded and read, state that don't you need to to anything but create an account and login. Which I have done many times with no success. Tonocracy is contradicting itself. They claim version 2.31 has removed the need for Pace/iLok License manager but they did not remove the old page that shows it as a requirement. Also as it states in the screenshot I originally posted:

"Login failed. An UNEXPECTED error occurred. Please try again later." No mention of missing iLok, no mention of wrong password/user name only unexpected error try again later.

I've tried to ask them directly but as I & evolving99 have pointed out Tonocracy Support does not respond to tickets. I'm about done with this plugin. Thre are many more NAM players in the sea.

FIRST STEPS Tonocracy requires that you have a user account - if you do not already have one, go to Tonocracy.com and sign up. Once registered, you’ll be able to download the application and get started .(Please ensure that you have a reliable internet connection when first setting up, as the factory content is not included in the installer and needs to be downloaded before use.)

When launching Tonocracy for the first time, you will be presented with a login screen. Enter the username and password that you signed up with. (NOTE: If you have not confirmed your email address, you will not be able to log in! If you did not receive a confirmation email, it may have been blocked by your provider. If this happens, please try signing up with a different email address.) Once logged in, the factory content will be downloaded. This usually just takes a minute or two but can depend on the speed of your internet connection. You can monitor the progress in the upper-right corner of the main window, near the "Sync" button. Once the factory content is ready, you should see a default preset loaded in the main signal flow routing area.

Well, many thanks for trying to help but I've done all of that many times over. I made a second account same results.I can login to the website no problem but the plugin continues to throw this error. I even tried to login into the plugin with a fictitious account. Only then did the error message change to "wrong username or password. The e-mails of both the real accounts I created were confirmed and, as I said, I can login to the website no problem. At this point I'm beginning to wonder if this may perhaps be an AVX problem as the pc's I've tried it on are older "sandbox" machines. I'll give it a go on a newer, (and beefier), machine and see if that doesn't get it.

With all the amp modeling stuff available on sisite that is completely free any sort of online, login, ilok, registration b.s., THIS pos is the one you all decide to use?

 

If you have nothing positive to add then why make rude comments? Of course there are many other options to load NAM profiles. I've tried them all. I use several of them. That doesn't mean some of us don't wish to explore all possible options. Especially when the developer claims that his plugin is free. As it happens, Tonacracy, (when it was working), received some very positive comments from users that got it working and claimed it had useful features lacking in some other NAM plugins. Sorry if it offends you that II wanted to find out for myself.

 

Tonocracy is dead/abandonware and has been for almost a year. If you had logged in before their servers went down you could have continued to use the plugin, just without the cloud-based stuff like preset sharing. Since the plugin needs contact with their servers for you to log in, you won't be able to use it anymore.

If they had been generous they would have released a last update where the need for credentials have been removed completely, but alas.

However, there are better options now, so it doesn't matter much. Check out Genome 2 Intro. I just noticed that Wavemind has released a new version of NAM Universal as well (or rather it's in alpha or beta, but you can try it out). I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming that Genome Intro is still better. Seems like NAM Universal II has global transpose, which Genome Intro doesn't have, so that could be an advantage if that's something you use a lot. The question is how good the transpose is.

Yes, Genome is great, the fact that it can load .json extensions is a big plus for me. The new NAM Universal feels it needs a bit more time in the oven IMHO. Also like and use RigSculpt, SoundShed, Slammin' plugins, PWC_Skin, Neural Rack and DustyTube v2. And I'm sure we'll see more soon.

Free plugins are never free anymore. There may have been a time when they actually were but not anymore. Especially ones that require being ONLINE in order to use. There isn't a plugin/app in the world that is worth that kind of patronage IMO.
Anyway I couldn't care less... enjoy!
